  2. Select the instance you want to configure.
  3. On the Instance Details tab, choose Edit.
  4. Navigate to the Instance Properties step.
  5. To assign a virtual host name to a network, choose Add and provide the following information:
    Option Description

    Virtual Host Name

    Enter a virtual host name.

    Network

Choose the required option from the Network dropdown.

    Primary

This radio button is automatically preselected for the primary system or the first master host.

    Type

    • Default

The primary virtual host name is always set to Default.

    • For SAP HANA system replication purposes, select one of the following types:

      • Client Connect Address

You use this type for the automatic IP redirect during system replication takeover.

Add this host name to all possible nameserver candidates on all replication sites.

This host name is an additional virtual host name which should be used for all client connections to the SAP HANA, for example in the SAP HANA hdbuserstore or securestore. It must not be the SAPLOCALHOST of the SAP HANA installation.

When you want to perform a takeover on the secondary system, add the same Client Connect Address on the corresponding secondary instance. If the Client Connect Address is not assigned to the primary and secondary instances, no IP redirect is performed automatically.

      • Read-Only Client Connect Address

For an Active/Active system replication, assign this address to the secondary for read only access. Same prerequisites as for Client Connect Address apply.

    • For assigning virtual host names to tenant databases, do not use the Client Connect Address for the SQL access to the tenants but assign the following types:
      • First master host

For the first potential nameserver candidate

      • Second master host

For the second potential nameserver candidate within scale-out systems.

      • Third master host

For the third potential nameserver candidate within scale-out systems.

  6. Save your entries.
