You edit custom operations for example to choose another button group, provide dynamic
captions, or enable synchronous execution.
Procedure
Choose Automation StudioCustom Operations.
In the Actions column of the custom operation you want to edit,
choose Edit Custom
Operation.
Optional: Adapt the name for the custom operation.
Choose the name of the corresponding provider definition.
Choose the entity type for which this custom operation can be executed.
Optional: To check whether a specific target entity state is reached after executing the
custom operation, select the Operation Changes Entity
State checkbox and choose the expected target entity state. You
can choose one the following target entity states:

Running
Instance
Initial
Instance
Not running
Host
Unreachable
Host
Available
When you have chosen a target entity state, SAP Landscape Management creates
an additional activity during execution of the custom operation that checks
if the target entity state is reached. The default timeout for this activity
is set to one hour.
Optional: Select a default value supplier configured if you want to use generated
defaults.
Optional: Define the group for the custom operation. You have the following options:
Choose an existing group.
Enter a name, to create a new group.
Optional: Enter a dynamic caption that you want to display on the
Activities and Logs
tabs.
Choose the permission required by the user to perform custom operations on the
entities:
None
Normal
Forced
Critical
Optional: To perform the custom operation on more than one entity, select the
Valid for Mass Operations checkbox.
Optional: To lock the particular instance or host to prevent it from being used by
another user, select the Locks Instance or Host
checkbox.
Optional: To execute the custom operation synchronously, select the
Synchronous Execution checkbox.
Optional: To use this custom operation only for validation purposes, select the
Validation Operation checkbox.
Optional: To receive the mount data of the instance in a temporary XML file, select the
Use Mount Data XML checkbox.
The path to the XML file is passed as parameter
MOUNT_XML_PATH.
Optional: To prevent a standalone execution of this custom operation, select the
Not applicable for Standalone Execution
checkbox.
In order to execute custom operations that are not applicable for standalone
execution, you have to add these custom operations for example to a custom
process.
