Preparing Rolling Kernel Switch Media

For rolling kernel switch configurations you require kernel archives.

Prerequisites

You have downloaded the required database-dependent and -independent kernel SAR archives from the Software Download Center at http://support.sap.com/swdcSupport Packages and Patches Browse Our Download Catalog SAP NetWeaver and complementary products SAP NetWeaver SAP NetWeaver 7.4 Entry by Component Application Server ABAP SAP KERNEL <version>.
The kernel release is at least 7.41 (SAP NetWeaver 7.40 SP05).

Create a unique volume or folder for each kernel release or kernel patch.

Example Mount point: /mnt/Repositories/RKS28/
Store the following 4 files in a unique volume or folder for each kernel release or kernel patch:
- SAPEXEDB_<Version>.SAR
- SAPEXE_<Version>.SAR
- sapmanifest.mf
- sapmanifestdb.mf
