Configuring User Management

You configure a user management method to create operating system users required for copying, refreshing, or renaming systems.

Prerequisites

You want to copy, refresh, or rename a system:

  • Copy or rename a system:

    Users of the target system do not yet exist.

  • Refresh a system or database:

    Local users are used for a virtualization based refresh.

Context

You configure a user management method to create operating system users for the following:

  • SAP system

  • Database

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation pathInfrastructure Next navigation step Network Components Next navigation step User ManagementEnd of the navigation path.
  2. Choose Add.
    1. Type step

      Field/Checkbox

      Action

      Name

      Enter a name to identify this user management entry within SAP Landscape Management.

      Type

      Select the type of the server.

    2. Properties step

      LDAP Properties

      Type

      Enter the type of LDAP that you are using for user management.

      Base DN

      Enter a unique base name for your LDAP server.

      Admin DN

      Enter a unique administrative name.

      Password

      Enter the administrative password for the unique administrative name.

      URL

      Enter the URL of your LDAP server.

      UID Number Range

      Enter the range of numbers for the user IDs to be assigned to the new users.

      GID

      Enter the range of numbers for the group IDs to be assigned to the new groups.

      Use TLS

      To use transport layer security, select this checkbox and check whether you need to include the server certificate in the default keystore of your SAP NetWeaver Application Server for Java.

      NIS Properties

      Field

      Action

      Host Name

      Enter the host name of the trusted host that is set up to update the NIS server.

      Update Domain

      Enter the domain used to update the NIS server.

    3. Summary step

      The Summary step lists all of the information you have specified in the previous steps.

  3. Save your entries.
  4. Choose Test Configuration.
