The host is active so that the instance can be started on it.

SAP Host Agent on the host is running.

Instances that share the same virtual host names can only run on the same host.

For instance, consider the following scenario:

Scenario 1:

Instance I1 and I2 that are not running and have the same virtual host name VH1.

The auto selector assigns the same host, for example H1, to both the instances I1 and I2.

Scenario 2:

Instance I1 is running on host H1, and H2 is not running. Both the instances have the same virtual host name VH1.

The auto selector assigns the host H1 to the instance I2.

The host and the instance are in the same pool.

The auto selector only assigns a host if all the associated networks of the instance are also associated to the host.

The required operating system (OS) types, OS version, CPU type, and address space of the host and the instance should match.

The instance requirements have to fit with the host in terms of SAPS and memory. The SAPS and memory requirements of the instance should be less than or equal to that of the host.

This requirement is only verified if the Enabled option in the Host Check field is selected in the Instances screen.
