Refreshing a System
You refresh a system to overwrite an existing target system with the latest data from a source system while maintaining the configuration.
Prerequisites
-
The general prerequisites for provisioning systems have been met.
For more information, see General Prerequisites for Provisioning Systems.
-
The system can be used for copying. You have configured the initial entities.
For more information, see Initial entities.

To execute SAP TDMS standalone data scrambling during the system refresh, you have configured SAP Test Data Migration Server.
For more information, see Configuring SAP Test Data Migration Server.
-
You have configured your infrastructure.
For more information, see System refresh setup procedure.
-
The source system is on a different server than the target system.

For more information, see Exporting the Configuration Data.
Context
You refresh a system to overwrite an existing target system with the latest data from a source system while maintaining the configuration.
-
ABAP systems
To prevent overwriting target system configuration, SAP Landscape Management exports the target system tables that contain configuration information before starting the system copy. After the ABAP system copy has finished, SAP Landscape Management imports the configuration information into the target system.
-
Java systems
To prevent overwriting the target system configuration, you use the Java post-copy configuration wizard to export target system tables that contain configuration information before starting the system copy. After the Java system copy has finished, you use the Java post-copy wizard to import the configuration information into the target system.
