Preparing Diagnostics Agent Media

For Diagnostics Agent installations you require a Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 archive and a kernel archive.

Prerequisites

Context

In general, you need one Diagnostics Agent on each host to be managed. In case the systems to be managed have been set up using logical host names, it is essential to have one Diagnostics Agent instance for each logical host. The Diagnostics Agent has a kernel of its own, which is completely independent of the kernel of the managed systems available on the host where the Diagnostics Agent is installed.

Procedure

  1. Create a root directory that you can mount centrally.
  2. Extract the Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 archives (InstMaster) to subdirectories of the created root directory.
The root directory can contain multiple Software Provisioning Manager.
For installations that require *.ZIP or *.SAR archives, place them in a separate folder with name "Archives" below the repository root.
  3. Save each extracted Diagnostics Agent kernel archive to an individual subdirectory of the created root directory.
The root directory can contain multiple kernel releases.
