Configuring Name Servers

You configure a name server to dynamically create or delete host names and IP addresses when cloning, copying, refreshing, or renaming systems.

Prerequisites

You want to clone, copy, refresh, or rename a system:

  • Cloning a system:

    You do not use IP addresses as communication host names.

  • Copying, refreshing, or renaming a system:

    You do not use existing host names, or DHCP for newly provisioned/cloned virtual hosts.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation pathInfrastructure Next navigation step Network Components Next navigation step Name ServerEnd of the navigation path.
  2. Choose Add.
    1. Type step

      Name

      Enter a name used to identify this virtual name server configuration within SAP Landscape Management.

      Type

      Select the type of the server.

    2. Properties step

      DNS Properties

      Field

      Action

      Host

      Enter the host name of the trusted host set up to update the DNS server.

      DNS Server to Update

      Enter the actual name of the DNS server to be updated.

      Default TTL

      Enter the default time to live setting.

      LDAP Properties

      Type

      Enter the type of LDAP that you are using.

      Base DN

      Enter a unique base name for your LDAP server.

      Admin DN

      Enter a unique administrative name.

      Password

      Enter the administrative password for the unique administrative name.

      URL

      Enter the URL of your LDAP server.

      Object Classes

      Enter the object classes.

      Use TLS

      To use transport layer security, select this checkbox and check whether you need to include the server certificate in the default keystore of your SAP NetWeaver Application Server for Java.

      NIS Properties

      Field

      Action

      Host Name

      Enter the host name of the trusted host set up to update the NIS server.

      Update Domain

      Enter the domain used to update the NIS server.

    3. Summary step

      The Summary step lists all of the information you have specified in the previous steps.

  3. Save your entries.
  4. Choose Test Configuration.
