Performing Global Searches

You use the search functionality to search for various entity properties available in your landscape.

Prerequisites

You know the search operators that you can use.

Context

The magnifier class is located in the header area of the user interface, and is therefore visible and accessible at all times, regardless of the view you are in.

The properties of the following entities are indexed:
  • User Interface views
  • Pools
  • Systems
  • Characteristic values
  • Instances
  • Hosts
  • Virtualization
  • Blueprints
  • Activities
  • Schedule
  • Provider implementation definitions
  • Custom operations, hooks, and notifications
  • Provisioning replacements
  • Custom relations
  • Operation templates
  • Provisioning templates
  • Custom processes

Procedure

  1. Choose .

    An entry field opens.

  2. Enter your search query.
  3. Choose .
    • The Start of the navigation pathOverview Next navigation step SearchEnd of the navigation path screen opens.
    • Your search result is displayed.

      By default only entity properties available within the active working set are displayed. If you have selected a working set other than the default working set, you can choose Ignore selected Working Set. For entity properties found you have the following options:
      • Add to active Working Set

      • Switch to Working Set "All"

    • The search query is saved under Recent Searches.

Results

From most search results you can navigate directly to related information, for example, instances, hosts, or virtual host provider.
