Configuring the Secondary System

To set up the secondary system for system replication, you configure and register it with the primary system.

Prerequisites

  • You have permission Service(ForcedPrepare,ForcedUnPrepare,ForcedStart,ForcedStop).

    For more information, see Standard Permissions.

  • You comply with the prerequisites for system replication.

    For more information, see Setting Up System Replication.

  • You have configured the primary system so that you can register a secondary system with it.

    For more information, see Configuring the Primary System.

  • The status of the secondary system is Not running Not Running.

    For more information, see Instance Operations.

  • You are logged on to the host of the master name server as the root user on the secondary system.

  • If the host names of the primary and the secondary system are the same, change the host names used on the secondary system.

  • Check if the host name resolution works in both directions before you configure the secondary system for system replication.

  • You know the replication mode that you want to use.

  • You know the system replication operation mode that you want to use.

Context

To set up system replication, carry out the following configuration steps on the secondary system.

Procedure

  1. Choose Operations.
  2. Choose Systems from the tabs.
  3. From the Operations dropdown of the secondary, choose Start of the navigation pathSAP HANA Replication Next navigation step  Register Secondary Tier for System ReplicationEnd of the navigation path.
  4. Optional: Enforce complete data shipping.
  5. Choose the replication mode:
    • async
    • sync
    • syncmem
  6. Optional: Choose the operation mode:
    • delta_datashipping
    • logreplay
    • logreplay_redaccess
  7. As the remote host name, enter the name of the primary host that the secondary system registers with.
  8. As the site name, enter an alias to represent the secondary site.
  9. Optional: Select the Set Note checkbox and enter a note to be displayed in the Description column of the instance.
  10. Choose Execute.
  11. Check if the site has been successfully registered for system replication.
  12. To reinitialize the secondary system, choose Start.

    The status of the secondary system is Running Running.

Results

You have registered the secondary system with the primary system. System replication is now enabled.
