Configuring Hosts

You configure hosts to enable SAP Landscape Management to start, stop, and relocate instances according to the hosts available.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation pathConfiguration Next navigation step HostsEnd of the navigation path.
    The Overview section displays all hosts in the landscape.
  2. Select the host you want to configure.
  3. Choose Edit.
    1. Basic Configuration step

      • General section

        Checkbox

        Action

        Managed

        To include the host in the managed landscape, select this checkbox.

        Operational

        To make operational hosts available for starting instances, select this checkbox.

        Pool

        To assign the host to a pool, choose a pool.

        SAPACEXT Configuration

        To assign an SAPACEXT configuraton to the host, choose a configuration.

        Allow Downgrade

        To allow a downgrade of the SAPACEXT configuration, select this checkbox.

      • Host Agent Configuration section

        Use Secure Communication (HTTPS)

        To use secure communication using HTTPS, select this checkbox.

        Port

        Enter the port used to connect to SAP Host Agent.
        • HTTP: 1128

        • HTTPS: 1129

        HTTP Proxy

        If you have configured multiple HTTP proxies, choose the required HTTP proxy for connecting to the SAP Host Agent. By default, SAP Landscape Management uses the HTTP proxy settings configured in Start of the navigation pathSAP NetWeaver Administrator Next navigation step SOA Middleware Global Settings: HTTP ProxyEnd of the navigation path.

        Authentication Type

        Choose the authentication type used for the connection to SAP Host Agent.

      To check whether SAP Host Agent is running, choose Test Connection.

    2. Entity Relations section

      If you have configrued custom relation types, you can assign an custom relation type and the target entity.

      Choose Add and provide the following information:

      Custom Relation Type

      All entities configured for the custom relation type are displayed in a dropdown. Select the source entity type required.

      Target Entity Type

      All entities configured for the custom relation type are displayed in a dropdown. Select the target entity type required.

      Target Entity

      Select the target entity.

    3. Custom Properties section

      To configure custom properties for the host to centralize configurable and secure properties, choose Add and provide the following information:

      Field

      Description

      Property Name

      Enter a name for the property.

      The name entered is available to the custom operations and custom hooks with the prefix PROP- <Property Name> .

      Property Value

      Enter the value for the property.

      Secure

      To store the values in the secure store, select this checkbox.

      The values are not visible in the SAP Landscape Management logs.

      All secure values are passed together in one single parameter named LVM_SEC_PARAMS as PROP- <property name>= <property value>

      Each value is contained in a new line together with the secure customer parameters.

      The custom properties are passed to any custom provisioning process, custom operation, or custom hook executed on an instance or host.

    4. Host Properties step

      Field

      Description

      Isolation Ready

      To enable this host to be isolated using operating system firewall fencing, select this checkbox.

      If this checkbox is selected, the host is available for provisioning and relocating fenced systems.

      AC-Enabled

      If SAP Host Agent is installed on the host, and the host is capable of mounting remote services, select this checkbox.

      SAPS Provided

      Enter the information for the host in the Capabilities section.

      DHCP and dynamic DNS used for IP address assignment

      To consider the host offline if the host name can no longer be resolved, select this checkbox.

      With the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP), the host name of an inactive host is no longer resolvable.

      Is host permforming NAT for other IP addresses

      If selected, SAP Landscape Management expects additional IP addresses bound on the host, to be forwarded to a different host using Network Address Translation (NAT). Therefore those IP addresses will be ignored and not used to find adaptive instances.

      • To assign an interface facility to the host, do one of the following:

        • To add a new network assignment to the host, choose Add.

        • To retrieve the available interface IDs from SAP Host Agent, choose Retrieve & Add Interfaces from Host Agent.

        • To retrieve the available interface IDs from SAP Host Agent and automatically assign them to the appropriate networks, choose Auto Assign Network Retrieved from Host Agent.

        • To add an interface facility manually, enter the interface ID in the New Interface ID field, and choose Add Interface ID.

      • Choose the required network to assign it to the interface ID.

    5. Mass Configuration step

      1. Select the host in which you want to configure the current settings.

      2. Save and apply the mass configuration.

  4. Save your entries.
  5. Choose Test Host Agent Connection.
