SAP Landscape Management 3.0, Enterprise Edition

Configuring SAP Host Agent

You configure SAP Host Agent on every managed system to enable SAP Landscape Management to start and stop instances, and to monitor the status of computer systems.

Prerequisites

You have checked the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) at http://support.sap.com/pamInformation published on SAP site to ensure the following:

  • Your operating system (OS) version is on the list of supported OS versions for SAP NetWeaver.

  • Your OS meets the minimum OS requirements.

Context

SAP Host Agent is installed automatically during the installation of all new SAP system instances or instances with SAP kernel 7.20 or higher.

The SAP Landscape Management software needs the latest version of SAP Host Agent 7.21.

There is a validation check in SAP Landscape Management, which runs regularly and shows the SAP Host Agent version for the managed system. If the SAP Host Agent version is lower than 7.21, then a validation error is thrown.

Procedure

  1. On each host with an SAP component to be managed by SAP Landscape Management, check whether the latest version of SAP Host Agent 7.21 is installed and running.
For more information about checking the SAP Host Agent version, see SAP Host Agent Reference - Command Line Options of the saphostexec Executable.
  2. If required, install or upgrade SAP Host Agent to the latest version of SAP Host Agent 7.21.
  3. Install SAP ADAPTIVE EXTENSION 1.0.

For more information, see Managing SAP Adaptive Extensions Installations.

Contact your SAP technology partner representative to get the sapacosprep partner libraries for your specific storage integration. 4. Ensure that the prerequisites for Web service authentication are fulfilled.

If you use a special authentication method on UNIX, for example LDAP, you might need to create a PAM authentication policy.

The file permissions for the sapuxuserchk executable are automatically set correctly by SAP Host Agent installation/upgrade.
