Creating Performance Monitoring Charts
Display metrics for specific entities (such as SAP systems, specific instances, or virtual machines) for a specific time period.
Prerequisites
-
You have the authorization to create monitoring charts.
For more information, see Standard Permissions.
-
You have assigned the roles and groups required.
For more information, see Standard Roles and Groups.
-
You have configured monitoring settings.
For more information, see Configuring Monitoring Settings.
Context
-
Over time
To reduce the amount of data and improve performance, data is aggregated by minute, hour, and day, and stored in different databases. For each of these aggregations, you can define different purging times in the monitoring settings. Such as keep minutely aggregated data for only one week, but keep daily aggregated data for seven years. The minimum, maximum, and most common or average values are saved, together with the number of raw records for that particular aggregation. (For discrete values such as status, the most common value is calculated; for continuous values, the average value is calculated.)
-
Over multiple entities
You can choose up to 5 entities. If you choose multiple entities, the metrics are aggregated.
The metrics are collected periodically based on the configuration of the monitoring settings, or the metrics are calculated based on other collected metrics.
Procedure
- Choose .
- To add entities to the display of a metric, select up to 5 entities (for example, application server).
- Choose the metric you want to display (for example, CPU usage) and the period (for example, hour).
- Choose Create Chart.
- Optional: To add the metric to the dashboard as a pod, choose Add to Dashboard. If you have added entities to the display of the metric, the metric is displayed on the dashboard only for the first entity.
