Configuring Landscape Scanner Settings
You use this procedure to specify the general landscape scanner settings.
Prerequisites

When using an ABAP system or LDAP as the backend for user management, use a local user of the SAP NetWeaver Java engine to perform the configuration. Otherwise, the jobs stop working if the user backend is unavailable.

You have the authorization to configure engine settings.

Procedure
- Choose Setup Settings.
- Choose Expert Mode.
- On the Engine tab, choose Edit.

To start the recurring background job LVM_Job_LandscapeWatchDog, which searches for hosts and instances within the network, select this checkbox.
The scan results are displayed on the Diagnostic Messages pod on the dashboard and are used when adding instances and hosts using the SAP Landscape Management Landscape scanner.
Use secure communication (HTTPS) for host agent

To use a secure HTTPS protocol for communicating with all SAP Host Agents, select this checkbox.
To use an HTTP protocol, keep this checkbox deselected.
Name of X.509 client certificate for host agent
None
Name of the private key for authentication at the SAP Host Agent.
The name of the private key for the client certificate in the key storage view "LVMView".
If not set, basic authentication will be applied using the configured default SAP Host Agent user name and password.
If provided, this certificate will be used by the landscape scanner for authentication at the SAP Host Agent.
Authentication using a certificate also requires that secure communication is enabled for the SAP Host Agent.

To scan for instances on managed hosts, select this checkbox. The landscape scanner ignores non-managed hosts and does not find instances running on these hosts.
To scan for all hosts in the network and all instances running on these hosts, keep the checkbox deselected.

During the specified time interval, SAP Landscape Management scans the complete landscape by executing the recurring background job LVM_Job_LandscapeWatchDog.
Scan results of subsequent landscape scans overwrite previous landscape scan results.

For a single complete landscape scan, the background job LVM_Job_LandscapeWatchDog is executed periodically.
The parameter specified defines the time interval between such recurring job executions. This time interval is much shorter than the time interval for a single complete landscape scan.

If the landscape scanner finds new host or instances, these scan results are displayed on the Diagnostic Messages pod on the dashboard.
The lifetime parameter defines for how long these diagnostics messages are shown.
