  Operational Scenario

Purpose

The following section describes an example of the process flow for an operational scenario and its key steps.

This process description is only schematic in nature, since the details and final implementation are dependent on the conditions of each particular operation and the system landscape required in each case.

The scenario describes how to set up, operate, and dismantle the production system landscape that is represented in simplified form in System Architecture and Offline Capabilities .

Note Note

For more information about the individual steps, see the documentation stated below.

Standard system administration tasks are not listed.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

You are familiar with the functions of the Defense Forces & Public Security component and have mapped your organization’s domestic base.

In addition to the Defense Forces & Public Security component, you have also implemented the SAP Mobile Defense & Security component, which is provided separately.

You have implemented SAP Solution Manager .

End of the note.

You are familiar with the standard procedure for setting up and dismantling SAP systems.

Operational Planning and Setting Up Decentralized Systems

Planning the Operational Structure in the Central System
  1. You evaluate the operation.

  2. If necessary, you define one or more organizational measures for performing the approval process.

  3. You set up the operational structure :

  4. You plan the personnel and materials for the operational force elements:

  5. You assign technical objects

  6. You trigger a workflow to generate CO objects and their assignments .

  7. You request an operational structure and perform checks and follow-up actions .

  8. You approve an operational structure and perform checks and follow-up actions .

  9. You assign roles

  10. You assign mobile devices to positions (as early as possible); you also define the scope of data distribution (force elements) for each device.

  11. You assign responsible and performing work centers to operational force elements and positions.

  12. You export data to non-SAP systems to support relocation planning.

  13. You plan a relocation

    • Relocation sequence

    • Assignment of personnel and material

    • Rough workload estimate

  14. You activate an operational structure and perform checks and follow-up actions .

  15. You plan the authorized materials in detail on the basis of material planning objects

  16. You assign personnel

Setting Up the Decentralized Systems

You can set up the decentralized systems at the same time as you plan the operational structure (see above).

  1. You set up a central template system (one-time task) for setting up decentralized systems and include it in the system group.

  2. You set up the decentralized systems by means of a homogenous or heterogeneous system copy from the central template system.

  3. You include the decentralized systems in the integrated system, which involves:

    • SAP Solution Manager

    • Computing Center Management System (CCMS)

    • Transport landscape

    • Central User Administration

    • ALE integrated system, which primarily involves:

      • The RFC connections (at least one RFC connection for transmitting IDocs and one for the synchronization report)

      • Copying the ALE distribution model

  4. You check and, if necessary, adjust the number range objects in preparation for posting via product data replication (PDR) and for production operation.

  5. You make preparations for the initial master data load for the decentralized systems.

  6. You assign decentralized systems to force elements and start the initial distribution of master data and users.

    Note Note

You cannot perform this step unless the operational structure has been activated (see above).

    End of the note.
  7. You perform subsequent activities in Controlling and EH&S.

  8. You make final changes to the ALE connection parameters to align them with system performance in the area of operation.

  9. You record routine jobs:

    • Standard jobs

    • DFPS-specific jobs (such as role generator and PDR)

  10. You set up a mirror system and include it in the system group so that you can import and test transports in advance.

Setting Up the Middleware Systems andMobileDevices
  1. You set up a middleware server (one-time task) as a template system and include it in the system group.

  2. You set up the middleware system by copying the template system and include it in the system group.

  3. You set up a mirror system for the middleware server and include it in the system group so that you can import and test transports in advance.

  4. You initially distribute data from the decentralized system to the middleware system.

  5. You set up an installation toolkit server to generate a master image by means of a new installation or using a template system.

  6. You create a master image to generate a client installation image.

  7. You use the client installation image to install the mobile devices and initially distribute data from the middleware system to the mobile devices.

  8. You synchronize the data with the middleware system.

Executing the Operation and Operating the Decentralized Systems

Note Note

For more detailed information about the following steps, see the relevant documentation in SAP Library.

End of the note.
Transport and Relocation
  1. You transport the decentralized systems, middleware systems, and mobile devices to the area of operation.

  2. You trigger relocation by generating follow-on documents in the central system.

  3. You use the standard Logistics functions for the transportation chain up to posting goods receipts.

Business Functions During Day-to-Day Operation
Operating the Decentralized Systems
  • You use the CCMS monitoring functions in the relevant system or, if necessary, SAP Solution Manager to monitor multiple systems centrally (see also CCMS Integration ).

  • ALE status monitoring

  • You control the synchronization process between partner systems.

  • You distribute the central Customizing settings to the decentralized systems.

  • You perform delta distributions of users and master data/documents automatically using periodic jobs.

  • Functions for operating mobile devices ( SAP Mobile Defense & Security )

Ending the Operation and Dismantling the Decentralized Systems

Closing Operations When the Operation Ends
  1. You close open documents and processes in the decentralized systems and mobile devices (using standard functions from Plant Maintenance , Materials Management , and so on).

  2. You redeploy the material.

Dismantling theMobileDevices
  1. You ensure that all containers are synchronized and processed (middleware).

  2. You uninstall the MI framework and MaxDB (device).

  3. You delete any remaining data from the mobile device (middleware).

  4. You replicate the data with the decentralized system (middleware).

Delimiting the Operational Structure and Closing Operations
  1. In the central system, you end the validity of the objects in the operational structure.

  2. You close the posting periods.

  3. You extract the data for auditing acceptability.

Dismantling the Middleware Systems
  1. You run a complete system backup, and archive data, if necessary.

  2. You decouple the systems from the system group.

  3. You uninstall the Web Application Server, MaxDB, and the data management tool.

Dismantling the Decentralized Systems
  1. You reschedule/plan jobs in detail.

  2. You perform a final synchronization.

  3. You decouple the decentralized systems from the system group (lock users if necessary).
