Creating/Assigning Objects for Op. Structures/Exercise Targets You create an operation or an exercise as the highest-level object in an operational structure or exercise target, and set up a subordinate structure consisting of force elements, positions, and persons.
You have familiarized yourself with the operational structure or target exercise as well as the contingent assignments .
You are in the
Structures Workbench
(edit mode) and have selected the
Operation
or
Exercise
view under
Structure Sel
. You may have to select an
organizational measure
before you can edit assignments.
You have created a root object in your organizational structure to store your operations or exercises in (see Editing Force Elements ).
In the Implementation Guide (IMG) under , you have defined whether you want the system to automatically create contingents that you have predefined when you create an operation or an exercise.
Create a force element with general information about the operation or exercise as the highest-level object in an operation or exercise.
Choose
Create Force Element
.
Select the force element type
Operation
or
Exercise
.
Define the properties of the object. For more information, see Operation/Exercise (Infotype 1956) .
In the
Properties
area, define the object period.
In the
Operation/Exercise
area, categorize the operation or exercise and, if required, define the operational period.
You can define the
contingents
at this stage. To do so, choose
Define Contingents
.
If you have entered an operational period and defined in Customizing that you want the system to automatically create contingents, they are displayed as default values that you can change or add to.
Alternatively, you can create contingents at a later point in time. You can edit both automatically created contingents and contingents that you have created manually up to this point at a later point in time. For more information, see Changing Operational Structures/Exercise Targets. .
Specify the other names and relationships on the tab pages (see also Editing Force Elements ). For information about the possible relationships, see Operational Structure or Exercise Target .
Choose
Execute
and save your changes.
You now have the following options for setting up a structure on the basis of force elements:
By creating new operational/exercise force elements
By including existing force elements from other structures
By retroactively editing a structure
You define a structure of operational or exercise force elements below an operation or exercise.
Select the required operation or exercise.
Choose
Create Force Element
.
Select the force element type
Force Element

Relationships for
field, select the entry

For information about the possible relationships, see Operational Structure or Exercise Target .
Enter the required higher-level force element.
Choose

Choose whether you want to create relationships with or without contingent assignments.
If you would like to make contingent assignments, select at least one of the contingents provided by the higher-level force element.
In each case, enter the required force provider or initial supplier. See also Operational/Exercise Relationships .
In each case, enter the required assignment period. This period must fall within the validity period of the contingent.
Confirm your entries.
In accordance with your entries, the system creates relationships with and without contingent assignments.
Save your entries.
You can also transfer force elements that already exist in another structure to an operational structure or exercise target.
Select the higher-level force element in the operational structure/exercise target.
Choose the
Op./Ex. Relationship
tab page and select the required relationship direction.
Choose
Create Relationship

In accordance with your entries, the system creates relationships with and without contingent assignments.
Save your entries.
You create positions for the operational/exercise force elements:
To create positions, see Editing Positions . You assign contingents in the same way as you do force elements (see above).
To define the authorized personnel, you can also use the contingent planning functions.
It is also technically possible to include positions from other structures (in the same way as force elements), but it is only rarely beneficial from a business perspective.
As in the case of the domestic base structures, you assign the force elements and positions with material planning objects, equipment packages, provisions packages, and so on. See also Options for Editing Objects, Structures, and Assignments .
