Changing Operational Structures/Exercise Targets You can make changes to the time periods, contingents, and command and control relationships of an existing operational structure or exercise target.
If possible, the system adjusts dependent relationships to the new contingent assignment. The system prevents changes to contingents that may cause data inconsistencies.
Changes (except deletion) to contingents overwrite an existing, planned record of infotype 1956, or generate a new record of infotype 1956. When the changes are activated, the current data is overwritten.
Caution
The generation processes, which are triggered by the procedures described below, may take some time, depending on the size of the structure.
You have created an operation or an exercise. For more information, see Creating/Assigning Objects for Op. Structures/Exercise Targets .
You have familiarized yourself with infotype 1956 and contingent assignments .
You may have to select an organizational measure before you can process assignments.
You are in the
Structures Workbench
(edit mode) and have selected the
Operation/Exercise
tab page of the required force element.
You can change the operational period . This does not result in the time periods of the existing contingents and thereby also the operation/exercise period being changed.
You can bring forward the start of the operational period or move back the end.
You can move back the start of the operational period to the start of the first contingent at most, or bring forward the end of the operational period to the end of the last contingent at most.
You can shift an operation or exercise. For more information, see Report: Shifting Operational Structure/Exercise Targets .
You can extend or shorten the operation/exercise period by editing the contingents .
You are in the
Structures Workbench
(edit mode) and have selected the
Operation/Exercise
tab page of the required force element.
You can create a new contingent as long as its time period does not coincide with an existing contingent's time period:
Choose
Create Contingent
.
Specify the required properties and choose
Continue
.
Specify whether you would like to create relationships with contingent assignments:
You are not obliged to make contingent assignments. Lower-level objects keep their relationships without contingent assignments in the contingent period.
You can create relationships with contingent assignments to lower-level objects that are already assigned via relationships without contingent assignments in the contingent period.
You can create relationships with contingent assignments to lower-level objects that already have relationships with contingent assignments on a chosen key date in the same structure.
Relationships with contingent period created in this way are valid for the entire contingent period.
Choose
Continue
and save your changes.
You can split a contingent:
Select the required contingent.
Choose
Split Contingent
.
In the
Splitting Date
field, enter the start date of the new contingent to be created.
The validity of the existing contingent is delimited automatically to the previous day’s date.
Enter the properties of the new contingent to be created.
Choose
Execute
and confirm the warning message that then appears.
Save your changes.
The system adjusts the relationships with contingent assignments that already exist for the original contingent accordingly: Relationships with contingent assignments that extend into the validity period of the new contingent are delimited to the new end of the original contingent and created again at the start of the new contingent.
You can change the properties of a contingent:
Select the required contingent.
Choose
Change Contingent Content.
Change the required properties and choose
Execute
.
Save your changes.
You can change a contingent period :
Select the required contingent.
Choose
Change Contingent Period.
Change the contingent period.
You can change the start and end dates as long as it does not lead to overlapping with neighboring contingents. It is possible to leave gaps between contingents. Relationships with or without contingent assignments are adjusted by the system accordingly.
Choose
Execute
and confirm the warning message that then appears.
Save your changes.
You can delete a contingent.
Select the required contingent.
Choose
Delete Contingent
.
Choose
Execute
and confirm the warning message that then appears.
Save your changes.
The contingent is deleted. The periods of neighboring contingents are not adjusted automatically. Affected relationships with contingent assignments are replaced by relationships without contingent assignments.
You can extend an existing operational structure/exercise target by assigning additional force elements and positions, make structural changes, and so on (for more information, see Creating/Assigning Objects for Op. Structures/Exercise Targets and Options for Editing Objects, Structures, and Assignments ).
Note
If you have prevented relationships
without
contingent assignment from being displayed under
user settings
, the system only takes into account objects that display at least one contingent assignment when carrying out structure operations (
Structure Operations
pushbutton).
Additionally, you can change the properties of operational/exercise relationships with contingent assignment:
Choose the
Op./Ex. Relationship
tab page.
Select the required relationship direction.
Select the required relationship.
Choose
Change Additional Data.
Specify the required properties and choose
Continue
.
Save your changes.
In order to eliminate gaps, relationships without contingent assignments are created, delimited, or deleted automatically by the system on the basis of the way in which relationships with contingent assignments or relationships without contingent assignments are edited for other operations/exercises.
You can delimit relationships
with
contingent assignments (that is, change or delete their end date) using the
Op./Ex. Relationships
tab page.
