Account Change
This function enables existing accounts to be changed.
You have limited options for changing the individual fields of an account contract . The permitted changes can be divided into the following types:
Certain basic attributes (such as the product category) cannot be changed.
Certain attributes can only be changed by means of orders, (such as account closure, account product change).
Certain attributes that can be changed directly in the SAP Graphical User Interface (SAP GUI),
by means of a Business Application Interface (BAPI)
or Direct Input
.
Attributes that can be changed directly or by orders might require release, depending on the Customizing settings.
While changes made to the account are being processed, the related release object and different authorization objects control the program flow. For more information, see Authorization Administration in Account Management.
You make the settings for release in Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM)
under .
You make the settings for authorizations in Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM)
under .
Note
The system generates a work item for the release process if the relevant Customizing settings have been made. For more information, see the Framework for the Principle of Dual Control (CA-GTF-TS-PDC) and SAP Business Workplace sections.
Note
For each account contract, there may only be one master data change that is subject to release in the release process at a given time. This means that the system locks the contract for another master data change until a processor has released, returned, or rejected the first change in the release workflow. Only then can you make further release-relevant changes.
Exception: The following processing options are available to you even if the system has locked an account contract for further processing due to a release-relevant master data change. Create Payment Item, Create Prenote, Create PLM Document for Account, Set Feature/Posting Lock. You can also execute these transactions using the direct input channel.
The processing steps that run when changes are made are not dependent on the channel if you use the Business Data Toolset (BDT)
.
The following channels are generally available for changing accounts. However, their availability is restricted in the case of order-related changes:
SAP Graphical User Interface (SAP GUI)
Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI)
Direct Input (DI)
