Scheduling

Definition

System configuration settings that relate to the SAP CC schedulers and corresponding jobs scheduled in the SAP CC system. Specialized internal functions manage the different business processes (activation, alerts) and technical processes (cleanup, SLD, business metrics).

Description

This group includes all the system parameters used to configure the internal schedulers of the SAP CC Core Server system. Depending on the types of the SAP CC system instances, different schedulers are available. They are specialized and manage different business processes (activation, alerts) and technical processes (cleanup, SLD, business metrics).

Tip: You can monitor the internal activity of the SAP CC schedulers, see the Scheduler metric node.

Notes

  • All the system parameters XXX_SCHEDULER_ENABLED enable scheduling functions but do not trigger any execution. When you change the value to true, the scheduler function becomes ready to launch new jobs in the corresponding instance of the SAP CC Core Server system.
It is not an indication that the scheduler is currently running jobs. For monitoring the internal activities, you can use the performance and health metrics reported in CA Introscope for SAP and defined in the SAP CC Metric Reference and Performance Troubleshooting.
  • Although the scheduler is not enabled, it can nevertheless run jobs that have been started before the scheduler has been disabled.

Setting Up or Viewing System Parameters

You can set up or view the following system parameters that are available for different instance types in the running SAP CC Core Server system.

Parameter Definition
ACTIVATION_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the activation scheduler in the SAP CC system
ACTIVATION_SCHEDULER_MAX_THROUGHPUT The maximum number of subscriber accounts per second that can be activated by each rater instance
ACTIVATION_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period of the activation scheduler
ACTIVATION_SCHEDULER_SUBSCRIPTION_ENABLED The inclusion or exclusion of the subscription data by the internal activation scheduler
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_RETENTION_PERIOD The duration (in days) of allowances retention period
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the internal scheduler responsible for purging expired allowances in provider contracts
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_SCHEDULER_MAX_THROUGHPUT The maximum number of provider contracts per second that can be processed by each rater instance during allowance purge operations
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period related to the execution of the scheduler in charge of purging expired allowances
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_THREAD_COUNT The number of threads (in each rater instance) reserved to allowance purge operations
CLEANUP_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the cleanup scheduler related to prerating/postrating
CLEANUP_SCHEDULER_MAX_THROUGHPUT The maximum number of subscriptions per second on which the cleanup process can be applied by each rater instance
CLEANUP_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period of the cleanup scheduler
CLEANUP_THREAD_COUNT The number of threads reserved for performing the cleanup process into each rater instance
EXPIRATION_ALERT_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the expiration alert scheduler
EXPIRATION_ALERT_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period of the scheduler in charge of expiration alerts
METRIC_RECORDING_DAY_TIME The time of the daily business metric recording
METRIC_RECORDING_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the business metric recording (as SAP product usage information)
REFRESH_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the scheduler iresponsible for the offer cache switching
REFRESH_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period of the scheduler in charge of refreshing the offer cache
SLD_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the scheduler responsible for sending updates to the System Landscape Directory (SLD)
SLD_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period of the scheduler responsible for sending updates to the System Landscape Directory
TRANSPORT_SCHEDULER_ENABLED The enablement or disablement of the internal scheduler responsible for processing the transport requests
TRANSPORT_SCHEDULER_RECURRENCE The recurrence period related to the execution of the scheduler in charge of executing the transport requests

Notes

  • Use the set command of the SAP CC Admin+ user interface to change the parameter values. The immediate change may be not possible and a restart is necessary. Consult the details for each parameter.
  • Use the get command to retrieve the parameter values manually.
  • Use the SAP CC Config Tool user interface to set up a complete or partial list of system parameters (restart needed).

Viewing and Inspecting Indicators

You can retrieve the runtime values of the following indicators in your running SAP CC Core Server system:

Indicator Definition
ACTIVATION_SCHEDULER_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when a scheduled activation on subscriptions was triggered by the SAP CC system
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_LAST_TRIGGER The reference date of the last manual execution of a purge operation related to allowances data
ALLOWANCES_PURGE_SCHEDULER_LAST_TRIGGER The reference date of the last execution of a purge operation performed by the dedicated scheduler
CLEANUP_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when the cleanup was performed
CLEANUP_SCHEDULER_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when the cleanup was triggered by the scheduler
EXPIRATION_ALERT_SCHEDULER_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when the expiration alert mechanism was triggered by a scheduler of the SAP CC system
METRIC_RECORDING_SCHEDULER_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when the metric recording process was triggered by the scheduler
REFRESH_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when the offer cache refresh has been triggered
REFRESH_SCHEDULER_LAST_TRIGGER The last date when the offer cache refresh has been triggered by the scheduler

Note

Use the get command of the SAP CC Admin+ user interface to retrieve the indicator values manually.

Recommendation

SAP recommends that you implement and use SAP Solution Manager in combination with the CA Introscope technology and infrastructure to improve your experience.

SAP delivers a packaged and customized version, CA Introscope for SAP, for an efficient technical monitoring of the SAP CC systems in the system landscape.

Refer to the SAP CC Operations Guide for more information about the following elements:

  • getting started with CA Introscope for SAP CC
  • installation and setup of supportability tools
  • technical and performance monitoring
