Function documentationEntry and Management of Clinical Orders

You can enter clinical orders in care units, outpatient clinics, and service facilities. These clinical orders are based on order types, defined by system administration.

Integration

The functions for entering or managing clinical orders are available in the following view types of the clinical work station. Their scope depends on the respective view type:

Prerequisites

For you to be able to enter or manage clinical orders, system administration must have created the basic data and settings for the clinical order.

See Set Up Functions for the Clinical Order

Example

You order a treatment for a patient. You can either order this treatment, or preregister it as a preliminary step. You can also enter an appointment template for this treatment or plan an appointment if, as the initiator, you can plan for the performing organizational unit. At the same time as the treatment you can, for example, also preregister the patient for an inpatient admission.

Within the clinical order you can enter treatment contexts, procedures, services, and so on. If you preregister the order item, you can also place the patient on a waiting list (for example, for hip surgery).
