Reactivate Clinical Orders when Canceling Admission/Visit
You use the clinical order to preregister patients for a treatment or for a required inpatient admission in the system. To do this you enter a clinical order with order items which have the Preg
(preregistration) indicator.
Until you plan an appointment for the treatment of the inpatient admission, the preregistered order item represents an entry in a waiting list (Preregistrations
view type). The patient will only appear in the Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility
view of a specific organizational unit (OU) once you have scheduled an appointment for him there.
When the patient arrives for treatment, you create a visit for the planned treatment appointment. When you assign an inpatient admission appointment, the preregistered order item will appear in the Arrivals
view of the care unit for which the inpatient admission appointment is planned.
There are several ways to enter this:
Admission with the Clinical Process Builder (transaction NV2000
): You select the appointment in the appointment overview of the initial screen and then create the visit.
Outpatient clinic/service facility: You create a visit for the appointment.
When the patient arrives for his inpatient admission appointment, you create an admission for the planned appointment. This is done in the admission by selecting the inpatient admission appointment and then entering the admission.
In all options, the system will create a connection to the case for the preregistered order item which you select in the admission. The system connects the order item to the visit or the admission movement. The appointment is then regarded as a kept appointment.
If you selected the wrong appointment, you cancel the created visit or admission. During this cancellation, the system will not automatically cancel the preregistered order item and the appointment. The preregistered order item again has the same status as before the creation of the visit or admission.
Example
This can be important if you require a report or evaluations of waiting list entries.
Note
You will only receive evaluations, for example concerning the period of time between the entry of the preregistered order item and the actual performance of the surgery/treatment, if a patient is represented by the same waiting list entry throughout the entire planning phase.
If the visit or inpatient admission to be canceled is the only connection to the case, the preregistered order item once again becomes caseless following the cancellation of the visit or admission. This means that the preregistered order item can later be assigned to a different case.
Note
If you have activated the Business Add-In ISH_PREREG_CHANGE
, the system sends a dialog box for you to be able to change the preregistration status when you cancel the admission or the visit.
