A destination is a reference to a physical connection, which can be resolved on a
connected logical system. You create and activate a destination to receive and persist data
from the system.
Prerequisites
You have created a system.
You have created at least one connection for the system.
You have created a project.
Context
For example, if you want to create and execute an SAP BW process chain task, first
define a destination with a connection (connection type: SAP BW Process Chains) to
an SAP BW system (system type: SAP BW), and then use this destination in the SAP BW
process chain task definition.
Procedure
Start the SAP Data Hub cockpit in a Web browser.
In the System Status section, choose the
Modeling tile.
The cockpit opens the SAP Data Hub Modeling tool in a new tab in the same browser
window.
Create a destination.
In the navigation pane, right-click the project within which you want to create the
destination and choose NewDestination.
In the Create Destination dialog box, provide a name for the
destination.
Choose Create.
The tool opens a new editor where you can define your
destination.
Define the destination.
In the Connection value help list, select the required connection.
In the Connection Properties section, the tool displays more
information about the system and connection used for this
destination.
In the Description text field, provide a description for the
destination.
Save changes.
In the global toolbar, choose Save to save the destination.
Activate the destination.
After creating a destination object, activate the destination. Activation is necessary to
convert the design-time object to its equivalent runtime object in the
database.
In the global toolbar, choose (Activate) to activate the
destination.
(Optional) Check for inconsistencies.
Checking for inconsistencies help identify any impact to the dependent objects of the
destination. After creating a destination or after modifying a destination, you
can check for any inconsistencies in its dependent objects.
In the navigation pane, right-click the object for which you want to identify
inconsistencies and choose Check
Consistency.
If there is an impact to any of the dependent objects, the tool displays more details of
the dependent objects and the impact in the
Problems view.
(Optional) If you want to automatically adjust the references in the impacted objects and
redeploy them, in the navigation pane, right-click the object and choose
Redeploy.
