Modeling Guide

Use the Task Assist to Create Tasks

The SAP Data Hub Modeling tool provides a task assist, which is a single wizard to select, create, define, and activate a task. When activating the task, the tool also automatically activates all objects (destinations and data sets) that are necessary to activate the task.

Prerequisites

  • You have created a project
  • You have created all the required connections in the SAP Data Hub cockpit based on the task type that you want to create.

Context

By using the task assist to create a task, you only need to select the required connection and define the task properties. The tool automatically then creates all objects that are necessary to activate that task. In the Task Assist wizard, you can also choose to activate the task after creating and defining it. In this case, the tool automatically activates all objects that it has created and are necessary to activate the task.

For example, if you are using the task assist to create an SAP BW Process Chain, you can define the required connection and select the required SAP BW process chain. The tool then automatically creates a destination object that is necessary to activate the task. Similarly, if you are using the task assist to create a file operation task such as, a copy file task, the tool automatically creates source and target destinations and a dataset that are necessary to activate the copy file task.

Procedure

  1. Start the SAP Data Hub cockpit in a Web browser.
  2. In the System Status section, choose the Modeling tile.
The cockpit opens the SAP Data Hub Modeling tool in a new tab in the same browser window.
  3. In the navigation pane, right-click the project within which you want to create the task and choose Open Task Assist.
  4. Select the required task.
The tool supports creating the following tasks with the task assist.
