The Surgery Scheduling view type is available in the clinical work station. You use the views of the Surgery Scheduling view type to display and monitor the real-time progress of the surgical activity.

Note Note

The Surgery Scheduling view type is based on the i.s.h.med planning grid which, in addition to the planning grid functions also provides various display options and functions in order to enable process monitoring and, if necessary, make changes to surgeries at short notice.

Surgery scheduling can only provide a process flow display for planning objects of the "surgery" type (organizational unit-related parameter OE_TYP).

The Surgery Scheduling view type is only available for surgeries for planning objects of the "room" or "organizational unit (OU)" type.

You cannot execute surgery scheduling for personnel planning objects.

Due to the integration of surgery scheduling in the clinical work station you can provide planners/surgery managers of operating departments with work stations for displaying and monitoring the progress of the surgical activity.

The Surgery Scheduling view type relates to surgeries in an i.s.h.med sense. These are Surgery Requests and Clinical Orders with planned surgical order items.

Views of the Surgery Scheduling view type include:

  • Worklist

    The worklist in Surgery Scheduling generally corresponds to the worklist in the planning grid, but only contains surgeries to be scheduled.

  • Patient details

    This area shows a detailed display of the patient’s operative treatment selected in the worklist or in the time grid.

    You can override the patient details to satisfy customer-specific requirements using the Business Add-In (BAdI) ISHMED_PAT_DETAILS.

  • Appointment Oveview

    The appointment overview displays a list of the patient’s planned appointments.

    The overview calendar shows the annual calendar.

  • Time Grid

    The time grid displays the surgeries which are currently planned, currently underway or already completed and the time slots which are still available in one or more organizational units or rooms. You can customer-specifically override the labeling of the displayed surgeries using the Business Add-In (BAdI) ISHMED: Appointment Formatting (ISHMED_PG_STYLE_APP) for appointments and the Business Add-In (BAdI) ISHMED: Procedure Formatting (ISHMED_PG_STYlE_PRGS) for procedures.

    Note Note

    You can expand or collapse all areas individually (except the time grid) or change their heights. To change the height of an area you position the mouse cursor on the scale displayed at the lower end of an area and drag the separating line upwards or downwards.

The system refreshes the list of the entries in the worklist of the planning grid using the selection assigned to the view in conjunction with the time grid and the patient's appointment calendar. You can either refresh manually by choosing the pushbutton Refresh (Refresh) or automatically by means of a defined refresh interval. You store the interval for the automatic refresh in the view definition.

Features

Selection Screen

System administrators can configure selection variants to provide the user with the following selection fields for the selection screen:

  • Institution

  • Planning Period From

You can also use the Worklist tab page to provide further selection criteria for the view. On this tab page you can enter the following selection criteria for the worklist:

  • Performing OU (multiple selection possible)

  • Initiated By

  • Initiating OU (multiple selection possible)

  • Initiating Business Partner (multiple selection possible)

  • Initiating Department (multiple selection possible)

  • Surgeries/Treatments with Desired Appointment -/+ Days

    The system displays surgeries and treatments, which were ordered with an appointment template or a desired appointment, to match the planning period in the worklist.

    When selecting with desired appointment, the system selects data according to the date in the appointment template of the clinical order or the desired appointment from the request, dependent on the stipulated planning period. Before or after the planning period, the system adds or subtracts n days and selects the surgeries and treatments with appointment template in this time interval.

  • Surgeries/Treatments Without Desired Appointment From … To …

    When selecting without desired appointment, the system selects data according to the creation date of the clinical order or request.

  • Remaining Since

  • Services/Service Group (multiple selection possible)

  • Employee Responsible (multiple selection possible)

  • Priority (multiple selection possible)

  • Order Status (status of preregistration waiting list) (multiple selection possible)

  • Order Type

  • Patient (multiple selection possible)

    • Goal

      The system administrator wishes to define a view that users can use for making their own selections.

    • Method:

      If the user selects the view pushbutton, the system should not immediately display the Surgery Scheduling view, but the selection screen should appear, where the user enters the selection criteria, for example the performing OU to which the list of patients to be treated should refer.

    • Prerequisite

      When configuring a view, the system administrator creates a selection variant in which the Man. Entry Sel. indicator is set.

    • System Behavior

      When the user calls the view, the selection screen will first appear. The selection data from the selection variant is displayed by default. The user can change the selection data, e.g. select a different initiating OU. After changing the selection criteria you return to the view. The selections the user just made apply. These selections remain active throughout the session (in other words as long as the user remains in the transaction). If the user switches to a different view in the meantime, the settings remain in force.

  • Status Selection group box

You specify the criteria for sorting the worklist on the Sorting tab page. These are:

  • Date

  • Initiator

  • Performing OU

  • Other

    You can select additional columns for sorting from the worklist field selection. For each column, you can specify whether the data should be sorted in ascending or descending order.

    Using Basic Settings (Basic Settings) you can reset the temporary changes for a view.

    The next time you start the clinical work station, the default selections made by the system administrator for the view apply anew.

In the selection variant, you specify the interval for the automatic refresh of the planning grid worklist in the Surgery Scheduling view type.

Function Selection

There are no function variants available in the Surgery Scheduling view type.

You can replace the GUI status of surgery scheduling with an alternative GUI status. You can use an alternative GUI status to determine which functions (e.g. Team Entry, etc.) are available to the user in surgery scheduling. Furthermore you can provide the user with additional functions which are not contained in surgery scheduling with the standard GUI status.

In surgery scheduling, the user can execute the following functions, for example, for surgeries at OU and room level:

  • Plan Appointment (Create)

  • Change Appointment

    Note Note

    A surgery appointment can have the Fixed indicator as a special property. You can enter this indicator when you change the appointment. The further handling of fixed appointments is analog to normal surgery planning.

  • You can create an appointment for a surgery (for example for an emergency surgery) by double-clicking an appointment in surgery scheduling.

For surgeries and the documentation thereof, the user can, for example:

  • start the surgery

  • cancel the surgery

  • cancel the secondary surgery

  • call the surgery work station (e.g. to create secondary surgeries)

  • enter the team

  • set the time stamps

Furthermore you can also call the patient organizer in all view types which are based on the planning grid.

Layout – Display Variants

You can create or change display variants for the surgery scheduling (based on the planning grid) using layouts.
