Definition

All proposals in the proposal pool , except exceptions , have a quality status. Whenever you create an application standard , system standard , or abbreviation in the proposal pool, the system prompts you to assign a quality status. The following five quality statuses exist:

Use

If the proposal pool contains more than one application standard or system standard for a source text, the system uses the quality status to determine which proposal is the best proposal . For more information, see Creating Multiple System / Application Standards .

If you use the Distribute Proposals function in the short text editor to copy proposals to translation lines automatically, you must specify the quality status as of which proposals are distributed. For example, you can choose to insert proposals into empty translation lines if they have quality status S or higher. For more information, see Distributing Proposals .

If you perform evaluations with automatic distribution , you must determine the quality status as of which proposals are automatically distributed during evaluation runs. You must do this for each object type and target language. For example, you can specify that only proposals with quality status A are distributed in the object type data elements. For more information, see Defining Distribution Parameters .

Integration

The quality status ID of a specific proposal appears on its left in the proposal pool. You can see the numeric value of the quality status by displaying details for the proposal. See Displaying Details for a Proposal .

In the short text editor , the status bar of source texts for which a proposal exists in the proposal pool contains an icon for the different types of proposal:

  • for an application standard

  • for a system standard

  • for an exception

To the right of the icon for a system standard and application standard, the system displays the quality status ID. No quality status ID is displayed for exceptions. For more information on the information that is displayed in the status bar for source texts, see Legend for Icons in the Short Text Editor .

Your translator profile determines the quality statuses that you can assign. For instance, beginner translators can only assign quality statuses X and B to the proposals that they create. By assigning appropriate translator profiles, you can determine which users are authorized to assign which quality statuses.

Example

Example 1

You translate from German into English. You create the translation Save as a system standard in the proposal pool for the source text Sichern . You want to assign the highest quality status to this proposal. If your translator profile allows, you can assign quality status A.

Example 2

You translate from German into English. You create Translators as a system standard in the proposal pool for the source text Übersetzer . You do not want to assign a high quality status to this proposal, because Übersetzer could also mean Translator , depending on the context. We recommend that you assign quality status X to the proposal Translators . The proposal is therefore not recommended for distribution.
