Definition

You can create proposals as application standards in the proposal pool. Application standards are only valid in the domains for which they were created.

To enable you to create domain-specific proposals, the structure of the proposal pool reflects the first application level of the component hierarchy. For more information on the proposal pool structure, see Proposal Pool Concepts and refer to "Structure of the Proposal Pool.

Use

If a source text requires different translations in different domains, you should create these translations as application standards. By defining an application standard for a source text, you ensure that the translations of this source text remain consistent within this domain.

When you create an application standard, the system determines which domain is the correct domain on the basis of the domain to which the collection of the object you are translating is assigned.

We recommend that you always check the domain of the short text object you are currently translating. The system displays this information in the title bar of the short text editor , for example CA1 (BC) from deDE to enUS: LXE_PP1 .

When you translate this object in the short text editor, you can create application standards for the domain Basis (BC) .

The following English translations of German source texts are examples of application standards in specific domains of an ABAP system:

Application

German Source Text

English Application Standard

Basis (BC)

Auftrag

Request

Personnel Management (PA)

Beschaffung

Recruitment

Enterprise Controlling (EC)

Anlagen

Assets

Payroll (PY)

Abrechnung

The application standard is the best proposal for a source text if the following conditions are met:

  • The application standard is always the best proposal whenever you translate short text objects belonging to the domain for which the application standard was created. The application standard has priority over the system standard.

  • The application standard fits into the space available in the translation line.

Integration

If the application standard is the best proposal for the source text to be translated, the system displays it in blue beneath the appropriate translation line in the short text editor. You can copy the best proposal to your translation line by double-clicking it. When you save, the translation status of the short text line changes to translated .

When you create an application standard, the system prompts you to assign a quality status to it. Your translator profile determines the quality statuses that you can assign.

You can create abbreviations for application standards. They are used when the translation line is too short for the full translation. For more information, see Abbreviations .

You can create more than one application standard for a source text. For more information, see Creating Multiple System / Application Standards .

Example
Example

The system standard for Auftrag is Order .

In the domain BC, Auftrag is translated as Request . If you define Request as an application standard in the domain BC, Request or abbreviations of Request are offered as the best proposal.

Lines in objects of domain BC for which Auftrag has been translated as Order have the translation status modified .
