You can create proposals as system standards in the proposal pool. A system standard is a proposal that is valid throughout the system for all domains without a domain standard.
You should define translations as system standards in the proposal pool if the source text is translated the same way in all domains, which means it does not require any domain-specific translations. System standards are usually suitable for the translation of texts that frequently appear on the user interface.
The following German source texts and their English translations are examples of system standards:

If you define a single system standard for a source text, you ensure consistent translations of this source text throughout the system.
A system standard is the best proposal for a short text line if the following conditions are met:
No domain standard exists for the source text to be translated in the domain of the object to which the text belongs.
The existing system standard fits into the space available in the translation line.
If the system standard is the best proposal for the source text to be translated, the system displays it in blue beneath the appropriate translation line in the short text editor. You can copy the best proposal to your translation line by double-clicking it. When you save, the translation status of the short text line changes to translated.
When you create a system standard, the system prompts you to assign a quality status to it. Your translator profile determines the quality statuses that you can assign.
You can create abbreviations for system standards. They are used when the translation line is too short for the full translation. For more information, see Abbreviation.
You can create more than one system standard for a source text. For more information, see Creating Multiple System / Domain Standards.
