Curriculum Type
A special course type that contains other course types as elements. The elements can have different delivery methods. They complement or build upon one another. A curriculum type is characterized by the following attributes:
· Delivery method
The assignment of the delivery method Curriculum is fixed.
· Objectives profile
· Target group description
A curriculum type represents a structured training program that is designed to impart a coherent set of skills and knowledge. The elements of a curriculum build upon one another.

When you have created one curriculum type, you can use it as a reference to copy others from. The data created for the reference object can be used as default values for the new curriculum type. You can overwrite the default values. The system will also adopt the curriculum type elements from the reference object if required.
Curriculum types are used like course groups in a hierarchy of course groups. You can use all delivery methods as elements in a curriculum type. Curriculum type elements can be assigned with or without sequence rules to the curriculum type:
These elements must be completed in a specified order in the curriculum, starting from the lowest position and moving up. You can assign multiple elements to the same position. These elements all have to be completed before higher-level ones and after lower-level ones. They can however be switched around among themselves. Courses with the delivery method WBT can also be assigned fixed sequence rules within the curriculum type.
These elements can be taken at any time during completion of the curriculum.
When you create a curriculum, you must first specify courses for the elements with sequence rules. Then you can specify courses for the elements without sequence rules. You can position these between two elements with sequence rules, if required.
The with/without sequence rules distinction influences the selection of curriculum elements when a curriculum is created.
When you create a curriculum type, you maintain the required infotypes and relationships either in Customizing or through the menu.

Data on the curriculum type that is stored in the system using relationships.
· Belongs to course group
· Has prerequisite course type
· Has prerequisite qualification
· Imparts qualification
· Is planned for job
When you create a curriculum type, you store all of the data required for completing the curriculum that is not time-specific, such as:
· Description
The Description infotype enables you to store descriptive texts for a curriculum type that can be displayed in the course brochure or in the Learning Portal of SAP Learning Solution on the curriculum detail screen.
· Course type info
You can make the following specifications in the Course Type Info infotype:
If you want the curriculum type to be included in the course brochure, select the In Course Brochure indicator. When you start the report to generate the course brochure, you can select the option Selected course types only. The selection referred to is the one you make when you set this indicator for the course type.
The convention flag has no impact on curriculum types.
If you do not want curricula of this curriculum type displayed in the Employee Self-Services of SAP Learning Solution, select the No Intranet indicator.
· Relationships
In Training Management, information and attributes of objects are stored in infotypes and relationships. You can store the following relationships for curriculum types in the Relationship infotype:
¡ Belongs to course group
Here you specify the higher-level course group.
¡ Has prerequisite course type:
Here you specify the course type specified as a prerequisite for participation. In the Procedure infotype, you can specify whether a check is carried out for this relationship during booking. (By doing so you can override the general settings made in Customizing for Training Management under Day-to-Day Activities ® Booking ® Participant Checks for this specific curriculum type.)
¡ Has prerequisite qualification:
Here you specify the qualifications that are specified as prerequisites for participation. In the Procedure infotype, you can specify whether a check is carried out for this relationship during booking. (By doing so you override the general settings made in Customizing for Training Management under Day-to-Day Activities ® Booking ® Participant Checks for this specific curriculum type.)
¡ Imparts qualification:
Here you specify the qualification attained by participation in a curriculum of this type. This relationship is used for the check the system carries out for participation prerequisites and when transferring qualifications to participants during follow-up processing. You can also maintain the Procedure infotype for the curriculum type (see below).
¡ Is planned forjob:
You use this relationship to specify the target group (represented by the object type Job) for which the curriculum type is intended. This information can be printed in the course brochure.
· Further information
On this tab page, you can maintain the following infotypes:
¡ Procedure
In the Procedure infotype, you instruct the system how to react during checks for double bookings, double prebookings, participation prerequisites, and qualifications. In addition, you specify what follow-up actions are to be executed during follow-up processing.

When you create the Procedure infotype for a curriculum type, you override the general settings made in Customizing for Training Management under Day-to-Day Activities ® Booking ® Participant Checks and under Recurring Activities ® Follow-up Processing for this specific curriculum type.
¡ Web Link
The Web Link infotype enables you to link a curriculum type with URL addresses on the Internet.

Most of the above data is optional. It is only mandatory to specify the validity period, and the long and short name of a course.
However, the more information you store for the curriculum type when you create it, the less work you have with each of the individual courses based on it.
¡ Delivery method
In the Delivery Method infotype you determine the method used to impart or deliver the course.
You must always use the delivery method Curriculum or a copy of it for curriculum types.
You can create curriculum types in Customizing for Training Management under Course Preparation ® Create Curriculum Type, and in the menu under Settings ® Current Settings ® Curriculum Type.
