The menu generally contains the following options:

Other <Object>

The function Other <object> allows the user to process another object with the same action and navigates to the initial screen of the transaction. If the processing step of an object is interrupted by choosing a function without saving all the changes made, the system displays a dialog box. The user is prompted to save the changes in the edited object (see Prompts in Dialog Boxes).

Create, Change, Display

The functions Create, Change and Display allow the user to process the same or another object with another action and navigate to the initial screen of the transaction. As for Other <object>, a confirmation prompt must be issued to avoid a possible loss of data (see Prompts in Dialog Boxes).

Copy From...

The function Copy from... is optional. It displays a dialog box in which information on a copy object can be entered (see Referencing Objects).

Save

The function Save or Post should be available as often as possible. It updates the data in the database. After executing the function, the system navigates to the initial screen. The parameter settings of the last initial screen are saved.
Exception: In tasks that are similar to an editor, Save or Post only updates the data.

Hold

The function Hold is optional. It saves the data of an object without checking the data. Hold is used for all cases in which the function Post is used.

Generate

This function Generate is also optional. It saves the object, carries out a consistency check and generates the object (for example, Generate screen).

Display <-> Change

The function Display <-> Change is optional. If used, it is only active on data screens. It initiates a change in the change or display transaction but remains on the current screen, unlike the function Change or Display. If only one direction is needed, this function is called Display -> Change or Change -> Display.

Print

The function Print is optional. It prints, for example, a list, a screen duplicate or a purchase order (for example Print purchase order, Print delivery note). If the object to be printed is not the entire object but an object component, this function is to appear in the Edit menu.

Delete

The function Delete is optional. It appears in the menu if the user is authorized to delete the entire object. If the user is only authorized to delete object components, this function is to appear in the Edit menu.

Copy

The function Copy is optional. It appears in the menu if the complete object is copied to the database. This happens typically in tool tasks. For example, the user copies a program or a screen.

Exit

The function Exit exits the task. It must be available and active in every task at any time (if even required-entry fields are filled incorrectly). If the processing step of an object is interrupted by exiting a function without saving all the changes made, a dialog box is displayed. The user is prompted to save the changes in the edited object (see Prompts in Dialog Boxes). If the user saves the changes, the system navigates to the higher-level menu level of the application after closing the dialog box.

Technical Note

Exit

Exiting the application function for required-entry fields that are not filled is currently only possible by means of the function code "E".
