Create is a function the user can choose to start a task for creating an object of a previously selected object class.

This function can be used to create a new data record (for example, Create account, Create master record). If the user wants to create an object of a particular object class, the Create function is to be used. If the user wants to save the data entered during this action in the database, the Save or Post (Function) function is to be used. Create must not be used for updating data in the database.

The functionality is not split into Create and Create by Copying.

If the user wants to create a new object using an existing object as a model, that is, to duplicate the data of the existing object, the object to be copied must be specified.

For this function, a group box with the heading Copy from is displayed below the block for the current object on the initial screen which was opened by choosing the function Create. Specifying a reference object is optional.

If a reference object is specified, the data is copied automatically onto the following screens and can then be checked manually by the user. If no reference object is specified, then the new object is created without the information of a reference object.

Create with reference is a separate function the user can choose to create a new object by referring to objects of another object class.

Please refer to Referencing Objects for more information.

Like Display (Function) and Change (Function), Create navigates to the initial screen of the task.

If the user chooses this function, the menu option is not active on the corresponding data screens, that is, the menu option is dimmed. The user can then restart the chosen function for another object with Other <object> (Function)

If Change is chosen within a task, a confirmation prompt is displayed in case data has not been saved and may be lost. If the data is to be saved, checks are performed (see Exit or End <application> (Function)).
