Change (Function)

Anderes <Objekt>

The user can use the Change function to initiate a task for changing any object of a previously selected object class.

With the Change function, the user can change an existing data record (Change account, Change master record). If users want to change an object of a particular object class, they have to choose the Change function. If they want to save the data changed during this action in a database, they have to choose Save or Post. Change must not be used for the data update in the database.

Like Create (Function), Display (Function) and Other <object> (Function), Change navigates to the initial screen of the task.

If the user only wants to change from the Display mode to the Change mode within a display transaction to edit the current object and not to proceed via the initial screen again, the Display <-> Change (Function) function can be used. This function, which appears as an option in the menu <Object>, remains on the current screen and effects the mode change described.

If the user has chosen this function, then the menu option is not active on the corresponding data screens, that is to say, it cannot be executed from the pull-down menu. The user can then restart the chosen function for another object with Other <object> (Function).

If the user has chosen Change is chosen, a confirmation prompt is displayed when data has not been saved and may be lost. Checks are performed if the user wants to save the data (see Exit or End <application> (Function)).
