Creating Orders for Drug Kits
You use this medication order to order drug kits. Drug kits contain several drugs which are ordered together.
The system will create a separate order for each drug in the drug kit. No order is created for the drug kit itself, it simply represents the wrapper for the contained drugs.
Example
A drug kit consists of an eye ointment and eye drops. Both these drugs are always prescribed to the patient together in drug kit form. However, you create an order for the eye ointment and an order for the eye drops.
You select a drug kit in the drug search or in the order.
Note
In customizing you can determine user-specific presettings for order management, to control and preset the data in the order. The system will take into account the presettings assigned to the user when creating an order.
See Maintaining User-Specific Presettings
Select a patient in a view in the clinical work station or in the patient organizer and choose
(Create Order
).
Alternatively you can create an order using a corresponding task in the documentation work station.
You can also create a new order in the order dialog. To do this, choose
(Create Order
).
Note
As the order type results from the order process, the system does not support the transfer of the order type from the order template.
Depending on the user parameter N1ME_NO_DRUG_SEL you will access the drug search or the Create Order
screen.
In the drug search you can also search for order templates which you can use as a basis for the order you wish to create.
Select the drug kit to be ordered or one or more drugs of the drug kit in the drug search or in the input help of the Drug ID
field in the Create Order
screen.
If you select, for example, a drug kit in the results list of the drug search and transfer this to the order, the system will transfer all the drugs in the drug kit and create a separate order for each. In the background the system will create a connection which determines that these orders belong to a drug kit.
If, for example, you select only a drug from a drug kit in the results list of the drug search and transfer this to the order, the system will check whether this patient already has orders for other drugs of this drug kit.
Depending on the user-specific presettings for a user, the system may use an existing connection between the drugs of a drug kit and the drug kit and assigns the drug to this connection.
Enter the necessary data in the compressed view of the corresponding order for a drug of the drug kit.
Note
In the compressed view the system displays an order (row) for each drug in the drug kit.
Depending on the corresponding drug of the drug kit you must enter the necessary data for a standard drug, an infusion, a nutritional solution or a compound.
Depending on the user parameter N1ME_ORDGRI_OPENROW the system highlights the opened (selected) order (row) in the Compressed View.
Note
You can also create an order without an end date. The system creates an order without an end date if you do not enter an order duration or an end date for the order.
You should note that the system cannot calculate the overall quantity of an order without an end date.
When generating events the system uses the event generation horizon which is entered in the master data of the corresponding drug (Inpatient
tab page). If the event generation horizon is not determined in the drug master, the system uses the value of system parameter N1MEEVTH
or, if the system parameter is not maintained, a standard duration of 5 days.
Choose
(Detail
) in the row of the order for a drug kit drug in the compressed view, to open this order in the Expanded View.
Choose
Drug
(Change Drug
), to have the system propose alternative drugs for the selected order.
See Changing Drugs
On the tab pages offered in the enhanced view, enter the necessary data for the order of the corresponding drug of the drug kit. The tab pages depend on the type of drug category of the drug kit drug (e.g. tab pages for standard drugs, tab pages for infusions, etc.).

When you create an anamnestic order, the system sets the "Anamnesis" value in the Pat. Own Medic. field for the patient's own medication. The system cannot generate events for this anamnestic order. However, this medication may be relevant for clinical interaction checks, which are only possible if an order exists.
The system presets the organizational units on this tab page using the case.
You can enter a comment for the order.
Furthermore you can also create a check condition for the order and indicate that the prerequisite entered there must be checked before a drug can be administered.
