Sliding Dose
You use a sliding dose to map, for example, the following treatment cases in the patient's medication:
Decreasing dose; for example, administration three times a day for one week, then twice a day for two weeks
Interruptions; for example, administration three times a day for one week, then an interruption of two weeks, followed by twice a day for one week
Parallel cycles; for example, administration once in the morning for a week and, at the same time, once in the evening on every second day for a week
You can also use sliding doses in order templates. You can therefore provide generally valid treatment sequences which require a sliding dose as order templates.
For more information, see Creating Order Templates.
Note
You cannot extend a medication order with a sliding dose, as the assigned cycles also have a limited period of validity. You can copy the order or create a new order that continues the previous treatment sequence.
You can use a sliding dose in an order if the following conditions are satisfied:
The order has the internal status saved
.
The infusion or nutritional solution is intermittent.
The compound is ordered in individual doses.
You can defined a cycle for the sliding dose in the system parameter N1MESLID
. For more information, see System Parameters for Medication.
You can activate or edit a sliding dose at the following places in the system:
Compressed View of Medication Orders (activate)
Enhanced View of Orders (edit)
Process an Individual Order in the Order Detail Dialog (activate and edit)
If you activate the sliding dose, the system deactivates the Dose Strength
and Unit
fields in the compressed view. The system flags the order in the Sliding Dose
column using the icon with the quick info Sliding Dose
.
You can define different cycles in the enhanced view of the order or in the order detail dialog on the Sliding Dose
tab page.
To do this, you can use the following possible entries in the cycle table on the Sliding Dose
tab page:
Dose and cycle
You use the Dose
, Dose Unit
and Cycle
columns to define the quantity and times of the administration. If you choose a day cycle, you can specify a simplified dose definition in the Dose
column. If you do not choose a day cycle, you can use the Dose
column as a multiplier. For more information, see Simplified Dose Definition.
You use the Dose Unit
column to define the unit of the Dose
column. Alternatively, the system also displays the strength here, if you have made the corresponding setting in the compressed view. The system presets the unit for the dose from the drug master data.
Example
If, instead of a day cycle, you choose, for example, a cycle for every six hours and specify the multiplier 2 in the Dose
column, the system creates administration events with the quantity two four times daily.
Note
You can also choose the cycle that is defined in the system parameter N1MESLID
. This prevents the nesting of sliding doses. The system uses the cycle in the cycle table like all other cycles.
Duration
You define the validity of a cycle in days.
Start date/time
You can specify the start time of a cycle in the Start Date
and Start Time
columns. The system presets these columns with the start of validity of the order or with the end of the previous cycle in the cycle table. Adjust the start time to map breaks in the medication and parallel cycles.
End date/time
The system calculates the End Date
and End Time
of a cycle from the duration and the start date/time.
The system replaces the existing cycle for the order with the cycle defined in system parameter N1MESLID
when generating events or when the order is activated.
You can change the layout selection and the presetting logic for new rows in the cycle table. You can do this with the Business Add-In (BAdI) N1_CREATE_SCREEN
.
You activate the sliding dose for an order via one of the following alternatives:
In the compressed view of the order, choose the hotspot in the Sliding Dose
column.
In the order detail screen, choose the cycle that is defined in the system parameter N1MESLID
.
You add a new entry to the cycle table by choosing
(Insert New Row
).
You insert a break in the order by adding an entry to the cycle table and defining the start date/time of the new cycle after the end of the previous cycle.
You create parallel cycle by adding an entry to the cycle table and defining the start date/time of the new cycle during the validity period of the previous cycle.
