
To be able to send the search results back to the Search UI, you must connect the relevant search providers to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search and ensure access to the search content. To do this, you create search object connectors for the objects, for example files or business objects, that you want to search using SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
The administration cockpit is the central entry point for the tools that you use to create search object connectors and to manage existing search object connectors. More information: Using the Connector Administration Cockpit
Depending on the systems that you want to connect to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, the following processes are required:
You use this process to search business objects in an R/3 4.6C system or R/3 Enterprise system (R/3 4.7) in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
Connecting SAP ERP 6.0 Systems (ERP 2005)
You use this process to search business objects in an SAP ERP 6.0 system (ERP 2005) in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
Connecting To an Embedded Search System
You use this process to connect an SAP Business Suite 7 system on which Embedded Search is running to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search and search for its business objects.
When you have completed the process, you use the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search tools to manage and configure the Embedded Search system.
Connecting File Servers and Web Servers
You use this process to search file shares for files in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
Connecting an SAP NetWeaver BW System
You use this process to search for BW data in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
You use this process to search for KM data in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
This process allows you to integrate external search service providers from the World Wide Web that already provide a search function and make this available through OpenSearch.
Connecting To Data Provider Services
This process allows you to include external search service providers in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search and use the data provider services to search data in customer-specific systems and third-party systems that are not ABAP-based.
