To search for business objects in an existing SAP R/3 4.6C or SAP R/3 Enterprise (4.7) system, you connect the relevant back-end system to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
Note
The generic RFC transport for indexing of data from SAP R/3 should be used for small tables and/or examples only. Mass data from R/3 4.6C for example, must be indexed using the BW extractor mechanism.
Release R/3 4.6C or R/3 Enterprise (R/3 4.7)
To connect an SAP R/3 system to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, you require the following information:
System ID and client of the SAP R/3 system that you want to connect
System number of the SAP R/3 system that you want to connect
Application server, for example, abc.location.company.corp
Name and password of a service user on the SAP R/3 system with special permissions (see Preparing an SAP R/3 System for Enterprise Search)
Recommendation
We recommend that you note the required information before starting the actual connection procedure.
