Connecting SAP R/3 Systems Locate this document in the navigation structure

To search for business objects in an existing SAP R/3 4.6C or SAP R/3 Enterprise (4.7) system, you connect the relevant back-end system to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

Note Note

The generic RFC transport for indexing of data from SAP R/3 should be used for small tables and/or examples only. Mass data from R/3 4.6C for example, must be indexed using the BW extractor mechanism.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

Release R/3 4.6C or R/3 Enterprise (R/3 4.7)

  • Application server, for example, abc.location.company.corp

  • Name and password of a service user on the SAP R/3 system with special permissions (see Preparing an SAP R/3 System for Enterprise Search)
