Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Make sure all the DataSources are activated in the back-end system by running transaction RSA5 there.

If any of the DataSources are not activated, you must activate them by selecting the node and choosing Trans. DataSources or Activate DataSources, depending on your system.

  2. For back-end systems with a PI_BASIS release older than PI_BASIS_2005_1: Transfer the BI content data sources.

More information: Activating BI Content DataSources

  3. Define the settings for application-specific DataSources.

More information: Defining the Settings for Application-Specific DataSources (PI)

  4. Make sure the System Change Options of the source system are set to allow you to establish a BI data extraction connection. (More information: Configurations in the SAP Source System).

If you cannot find the SAP Business Information Warehouse entry in the Implementation Guide (IMG) as described in the online documentation, you can use transaction SCC4 to set the cross-client customizing and repository changes accordingly.
