Billing Adjustment
In the cases listed below, existing receivables can change or no longer apply:
Changes to the data of an account (the inpayment agreement, for example)
Changes to the master data (standard conditions, for example)
Business Operations
Postings for payment items
You can also make backdated changes to a period that has already been billed and paid for, using the billing refunds function.
If the amount or the payment date of a receivable has been changed, the system generates a new billing item with status 01
(created
). The status of the existing billing item becomes 03
(adjusted
).
If a receivable no longer applies, the system generates a new billing item with status 86
(not made
). The status of the existing billing item becomes 03
. When new billing items are created in this way, the Open
Item Management System adapts or reverses the receivables. The billing adjustment is displayed by an additional entry in the Billing History with the following dates:
Execution date of the current billing run
Date on which the change that triggers the adjustment was made
Start of current billing period
Date on which the change that triggers the adjustment takes effect
End of current billing period
End of the current billing period
of the last account billing displayed in the billing history
When changes are made that trigger the billing adjustment and this leads to changes to the due dates of planned payments, the system adapts the execution date of the current billing run. In this way, the system takes account of the set lead days during the next account billing.
You can make backdated changes by creating individual conditions at the account level with a valid date in the previously billed period or changing the standard conditions in the previously billed period. When a backdated change is triggered, the system will create correction items for the
originally billed and paid amounts, which are processed by the billing run. The billing items that are created will be set to status New
(01) and the original billing items will be set to status Corrected
(03).
The system will then generate a payment order, which will create a new payment distribution item. This refund amount is credited to the loan’s clearing account. If a payment advice for billing refunds is maintained in the loan account, then the payment distribution mass run transfers the refund amount to the account defined in the payment advice section. If the payment advice details are not maintained on the account for billing refunds, the refund amount will be cleared according to the ruleset.
The posting date of the refunded amount will be the same as the posting date defined for the bank posting area.
