The graphical display of scalable data in the medical documentation enables you to quickly identify trends and relationships between two or more progressions and reactions to events. You can use the Smart Chart component to graphically display medical data to get a fast overview of the treatment progress and disposition of the patient.

Smart Chart offers a graphical and chronologically ordered overview of the following values for a patient:

  • Numerical and alphanumerical vital signs

  • Progress entries

  • Documents

  • Physician orders

Implementation Considerations

Smart Chart is a patient chart developed as part of Smart UI (Smart User Interface). To use Smart Chart, the following programs must be installed on the work stations of your institution:

  • NetWeaver Business Client 4.0 for Desktop (or higher)

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 (or higher)

  • Microsoft Silverlight Version 4.0 (or higher). For information about the installation requirements for Microsoft Silverlight, see the relevant support pages from Microsoft.

  • SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 (or higher)

In addition, you must have made the relevant settings and preparation in Customizing for Smart Chart. This includes defining chart layouts and making them available to the users. For information about this, see Configuration Functions.

You can use chart layouts, which you created in the i.s.h.med charting component, in Smart Chart also. However, the system only displays nursing and medication graphs within the i.s.h.med charting component in the ward documentation work station.

License

You require a license to use Smart Chart. You should contact your sales partner for this.

Integration

Smart Chart is integrated in the patient record as a User Interface Building Block (UIBB). It adds a graphical display component to the existing set of UIBBs, underscoring the central idea of the patient record which is to provide a clear overview of patient-related and case-related information that is easy to reach and can be configured as desired.

To use Smart Chart, you need to be assigned as a user or role to a configuration of the patient profile. For information about this, see Configuration Functions for Patient Profile. You call the Smart Chart with the Smart Chart UIBB of the patient record.

Features

  • As administrator, you can define graphs in Customizing and make these available to the users as chart layouts. You define the set of available graphs and how they are arranged in Smart Chart in chart layouts. For information about this, see Configuration Functions.

  • Smart Chart displays events and values for the patient, such as vital signs, in different graphs. You can group some graph types together to make group graphs. For more information, see Graph Types.

  • As a user, you can adjust the chart layout display to meet your requirements by using functions to personalize the layout. You can define a user-specific standard chart layout. You can find more information under Personalizing Chart Layouts.

  • You can adapt the display of the graphs of a chart layout to meet your requirements. For example, you can change the graph sequence, remove graphs from the display, show/hide graphs, zoom in or also move graphs. Some adaptation options depend on the graph type concerned. You can find further information under Adapting the Graph Display for all Graph Types.

  • Smart Chart maps the data of all graphs of the selected chart layout on a common time axis. You can navigate flexibly on this time axis. To restrict the time period, a time period focus is available that you can control using navigation functions or via predefined time windows. A graph preview shows you in which time segments data occurs. For information about this, see Time Bar Navigation Area.

  • You can also access the graph functions and the functions for layout management and time navigation via the keyboard. Smart Chart meets the requirements of accessible software and provides keyboard shortcuts for user groups who are unable to use a mouse.
