The time bar navigation area provides functions for time navigation. It is available under the graphs. Here, using the time period focus you can choose the display period from which data is to be presented and adjust this time period quickly and simply to meet your specific needs.

The time bar navigation area is based on a time bar. The entire display area of this time bar always corresponds to the case/period selection chosen in the patient profile.

All graphs have a common time axis that depicts a treatment period for a patient.

Features

You can use the following functions to adjust the display period:

  • Time Period Focus

    The time bar navigation area contains a time period focus that is defined by a start point and end point on the time bar. Smart Chart uses this time period to display the graphs and maps the data that occurs in this time window. You can flexibly modify the size of this window and its position on the time bar. For more information, see Change Time Period Focus.

  • Graph Preview

    When the height of the time bar navigation area is set to its highest, small graphical representations (sparklines) along the time axis provide a concise view of the time segments in which data occurs. You can use these sparklines to set the focus directly on these time segments by one-click action.

    Small charts display the time segments in which the progression of vital signs is documented.

    Gray points symbolize events entered at that time (physician orders, documents, progress entries).

    Gray horizontal bars represent the duration of a case. By double-clicking a bar you set the time period focus to show exactly the case period of the clicked case.

  • Time Grid

    The time bar navigation area provides time grids that adjust dynamically to the entire period displayed. You can select these time grids with a simple mouse-click to set the time period focus directly on a specific dimension and position.

    Note Note

    If there is insufficient room in a grid of the time bar navigation area to display the labeling, the system displays the grid labeling in a tooltip.

  • Time Ruler

    A time ruler that adjusts flexibly to the time period focus is located above the graphs. When you hold the mouse pointer over the time ruler, arrow keys appear at the left and right edge for you to navigate in the respective direction:

    • If you click <without quick info> (<without quick info>), you scroll forward by the time interval that is represented by the time period focus.

    • If you click <without quick info> (<without quick info>), you scroll back by the time interval that is represented by the time period focus.

To adjust the display period, predefined time windows continue to be available to you in the function bar above the graphs. For more information, see Predefined Time Windows.

You can set the height of the time bar navigation area. The system provides the following two default height levels:

  • Expanded

    The system displays the time bar navigation area with its overall height. From this height, you can continuously enlarge the time bar navigation area up to the maximum height defined by the system.

  • Reduced

    The system displays the time bar navigation area with half its height (without graph preview).

The system saves the height settings of the time bar navigation area on a user-specific basis.
