Object documentationMedication Order

The medication order (order) comprises the following information:

  • Drug

  • Dose

  • Frequency of the administration and the administration times (cycle)

  • Valid from date and valid to date (duration)

  • Purpose (administration, dispensing, print prescription)

Depending on the drug and the related dosage types, an order can contain further details, such as flow rates.

The ordering employee (physician) uses the order to determine the patient's medication during their stay on the care unit or as part of their treatment in the outpatient clinic. You can enter the following types of medication:

  • Existing (anamnestic) medication that has been prescribed by a family physician, for example

  • Medication for follow-up care, either dispensed or as a prescription

Note Note

An order is always case-related. The user must create a separate order for each drug to be ordered, i.e. one order cannot contain several drugs. A drug can, however, consist of several ingredients.

End of the note.

Example Example

The physician prescribes the patient two pain relief tablets three times daily for a duration of 10 days. The tablets should be administered at 08:00, at 12:00 and at 17:00 on the care unit.

End of the example.
