Comparing Object Type Definitions with Object Type TemplatesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • You have activated object types for translation. For more information, see Activating Object Types for Translation.
  • You have defined an object type template. For more information, see Defining Object Type Templates.
  • If you want to compare the object type definition of a specific target language with an object type template, you are defined as a coordinator for that language in transaction Translation Administration (LXE_MASTER).
  • If you want to compare the object type definitions of all target languages with an object type template, you are defined as a coordinator for all languages **** in transaction LXE_MASTER.
  • Your translator profile must include the authorization object LAOB with the value 02.

Context

For more information about object types, see Object Types for Translation.

For more information about object type templates, see Object Type Templates.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
  2. On the Languages Languages tab, choose Object Types Object Types.
The Choose Target Language dialog box appears.
  3. Double-click the target language whose object type definition needs comparing with an object type template.

The Object Types dialog box appears. The selected target language is displayed in the Language field at the top of the dialog box. Object types that have already been activated for the selected target language are listed in alphabetical order.

  4. Choose Object Types.

The Object Type Selection (Object Groups) dialog box appears. The individual object types are grouped together under their respective object groups, which appear in order of translation priority. Object types are highlighted if they have already been activated for the selected target language.

  5. Choose Next variantNext variant.
The individual object types are now displayed in alphabetical order.
  6. Choose Next variantNext variant.
The individual object types are now displayed according to category, such as S ABAP Short Texts.
  7. Choose Next variantNext variant.

The first object type template appears. If you have defined more than one object type template, keep choosing Next variantNext variant until you reach the object type template with which you want to compare the object type definition of the selected target language.

All object types that are included in the object type template are listed under the header Template: <ID> <Description>.

All object types that are not included in the object type template are listed under the header Remaining Object Types.

  8. Compare the object type definition of the selected target language with the object type template.
    • If all object types listed under the header Template: <ID> <Description> are highlighted, and if none of the object types listed under the header Remaining Object Types are highlighted, then there are no discrepancies between the object type definition of the selected target language and the object type template.
    • If any object types listed under the header Template: <ID> <Description> are not highlighted, of if any object types listed under the header Remaining Object Types are highlighted, then the object type definition of the selected target language deviates from the object type template.
  9. If you do not want to adapt the object type definition of the selected target language, choose CancelCancelCancelCancel to return to the initial screen of transaction LXE_MASTER.
If you want to adapt the object type definition of the selected target language so that it matches the object type template, proceed as follows:
    1. Double-click the top node Object Type Selection (Template). This deselects every object type.
    2. Double-click Template: <ID> <Description>. This selects all object types that are included in the object type template.
    3. Choose ExecuteExecute. You return to the Object Types dialog box. The object types you just selected via the object type template are listed in alphabetical order.
      Note

If you want to maintain the parameters for automatic distribution while you adapt the object type definition, this is the point at which to do so. For more information, see Defining Distribution Parameters. If you decide not to maintain the automatic distribution parameters at this stage, you can always perform this task later.

    4. Choose SaveSave. This saves the new object type definition for the selected target language, and the parameters for automatic distribution if you maintained them. You return to the initial screen of transaction LXE_MASTER.

Results

You have compared the object type definition of a specific target language with an object type template, and adapted the object type definition (if necessary).
