An object type template consists of a set of object types that you have defined as translation-relevant.
If you need to activate exactly the same set of object types for two or more target languages in your system, you can work more efficiently by first creating an object type template. When you subsequently activate object types for a particular target language, you call up the object type template and apply it to the target language in question. This saves time, and ensures that the object type definition remains consistent across target languages.
You need to translate into target languages English, French, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, and Turkish.
You want all texts that end users and developers see to be available in English, French, and Japanese. You also want to translate forms and F1 Help texts into these languages.
You only want to translate the texts that an end user sees into Spanish, Korean, and Turkish.
Template 1: UI Texts (End Users and Developers) + Forms + F1 Help
You define the following object groups as translation-relevant in this template: A5 User Interface Texts, A6 Table Entries, B5 SAPscript: Forms and Styles, C6 F1 Help, and G5 Technical Short Texts.
Template 2: UI Texts (End Users Only)
You define the following object groups as translation-relevant in this template: A5 and A6.
It is also possible to compare a target language’s object type definition with an object type template. This enables you to determine if the target language’s object type definition deviates from the object type template, and to adapt the target language’s object type definition to the object type template, if necessary.
Two years ago, you activated object types for translation into target languages German, Portuguese, and Hindi.
You want to ensure that you activated exactly the same object types for translation into all three languages, so that their object type definitions are identical.
You want all texts that end users see, plus forms, to be translated into these languages.
Template 3: UI Texts (End Users Only) + Forms
You define the following object groups as translation-relevant in this template: A5 , A6 , and B5.
In the third and fourth steps, you repeat the second step for target languages Portuguese and Hindi.
