Activating Object Types for TranslationLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • You have defined the target languages in your translation system. For more information, see Defining Target Languages.

  • If you want to activate object types for a specific target language, you are defined as a coordinator for that language in transaction Translation Administration (LXE_MASTER).

  • If you want to activate object types for all target languages, you are defined as a coordinator for all languages **** in transaction LXE_MASTER.

  • If you need to activate exactly the same set of object types for two or more target languages in your system, you can work more efficiently by first creating an object type template. For more information, see Object Type Templates.

  • Your translator profile must include the authorization object LAOB with the value 02.

Context

For more information about object types and object groups, see Object Types for Translation.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
  2. On the Languages Languages tab, choose Object Types Object Types. The Choose Target Language dialog box appears.
  3. Double-click the target language for which you want to activate object types for translation.
The Object Types dialog box appears. The selected target language is displayed in the Language field at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Choose Object Types.
The Object Type Selection (Object Groups) dialog box appears. The individual object types are grouped together under their respective object groups, which appear in order of translation priority.
  5. Select the object types that you want to translate into the target language. You can select individual object types, or entire object groups for translation. To do so, double-click the object type or object group. If you want to activate all object types for translation, double-click the top node Object Type Selection (Object Groups).
If you want to define the absolute minimum scope for translation into the selected target language, select object groups A5 (User Interface Texts) and A6 (Table Entries) only.
  6. Choose Execute Execute. You return to the Object Types dialog box. The object types you just selected are listed in alphabetical order.
Note If you want to maintain the parameters for automatic distribution while you activate object types for translation, this is the point at which to do so. For more information, see Defining Distribution Parameters. If you decide not to maintain the automatic distribution parameters at this stage, you can always perform this task later.
  7. Choose Save Save. This saves the object type definition for the selected target language, and the parameters for automatic distribution if you maintained them. You return to the initial screen of transaction LXE_MASTER.
  8. Repeat this procedure for all other target languages defined in your system.

Results

The object types you selected are now activated for translation into the target languages for which you performed the above procedure.

The next time that you create and then evaluate an object list to generate worklists and statistics, objects of the activated object types are included in the worklists and statistics.
