Function documentationCreate and Edit Tiles and Detail Views

In Dashboard Builder, a tile is a part of a dashboard. It usually visualizes a single KPI in a single chart; it thereby contains the following information for the KPI and its visualization:

  • Information about the actual KPI (type and name of the KPI, description, and unit)

  • Information on the visualization of the KPI (chart type, tile size, displayed rows and columns, available filters)

  • Information on the data supply of the KPI (for example, name and type of data source)

Note Note

The KPI is normally visualized as a tile and a detail view (see Creating a Drilldown View). For information about how to create a dashboard, see Creating and Editing Dashboards.

End of the note.

If you want to create a tile, you have two options to do so in Dashboard Builder:

  • You can create a customer-specific tile in which you need to enter all property fields manually. You have a lot of flexibility in terms of the visualization and data supply of the KPI (see Creating and Editing Tiles). However, this flexibility to display almost any conceivable data in any visualization requires considerable effort since in this case, you need to specify all steps from the data determination through data transfer to visualization yourself.

For data collection, Dashboard Builder supports various types of data sources, which include the following:

  • You can display values from default KPIs from the KPI catalog in a tile. In this case, in Dashboard Builder, in addition to the name and description of the KPI, visualization information and the required data source are also usually entered automatically, such that ideally values of the KPI are displayed in Dashboard Builder immediately without any further configuration effort (see Creating Tiles Using the KPI Catalog).

A tile also enables you to determine filters and threshold values. This enables you to display not all data determined by the data source, as well as use traffic light colors to evaluate the displayed values or emphasize them optically (see Usage of Filters and Threshold Values).
