  Maintaining Master Data

Purpose

This process describes the Customizing settings and master data you have to maintain in APO before you can execute Model Mix Planning.

Prerequisites

Process Flow

  1. Before you can use the iPPE data for Model Mix Planning, you have to generate a production data structure (PDS) in SAP APO for every product to be planned using the transferred iPPE data. See also: Generating Production Data Structures (PDS) Cross-Model

  2. You can check the creation of the production data structure using the generation log.

  3. In the iPPE Line Design , check whether you have set the indicator Takted production with lot size 1 for all the lines of a line network to ensure that only planned orders with lot size 1 are transferred to production and then later to the production backflush. You must also select the indicator Planning segment for the line or the group of alternative lines for which Model Mix Planning is to be carried out.

If you have not yet set this indicator, then you have to do so in the DI System. Then you have to execute a change transfer for changed iPPE data. After every change transfer, you have to regenerate the production data structure for the product to be planned. Here, you choose the option, Only generate changed production versions . In this way, you make sure that the changes you made to the iPPE master data are transferred to the production data structure. You must do this so that the planning matrix can plan using the current iPPE data.

  4. The APO automatically creates the line resource from the lines when transferring the iPPE data. You then have to maintain the data relevant to scheduling for these line resources – such as the base rate and the shift program, for example. See also: Defining Line Resource Data Relevant to Scheduling

  5. Complete the settings relevant to planning in the product master records of the products to be planned.

  6. Create the Restrictions necessary for planning.

  7. In Customizing for Model Mix Planning, check the process profiles and create one or several processing packages. See also: Procedures and Rules for Creating a Procedure Package

  8. Create a planning calendar in Customizing and assign it to the location and the procedure package. See also: Creating and Assigning the Planning Calendar

  9. Make sure that the RFC Connection to the optimizing server has been set up.
