You can create Web content in a page in the following ways:

  • You can upload images and HTML files that you created on your local PC.

  • You can create articles, link lists, and other item types online using Drag&Drop in the page editor.

When creating Web content within a page, you use Web content templates. The standard SAP delivery contains the following Web content templates:

  • Article

  • Banner

  • Link List

  • Paragraph

  • RSS Link List

  • Teaser

Caution Caution

When you create Web content in a page, you cannot reuse it on other pages or within the same page. When you delete the page, the respective Web content is also deleted.

Procedure

Uploading Web Content to a Page
  1. In the content editor, navigate to the area containing the page to which you want to upload the content, and then open the page content for editing.

    To do so, proceed as follows:

    1. In the portal, choose   Area Management   Content Editor   Staging Area   <area>   <page>  .

    2. In the content area, choose Content from the dropdown list , and then choose Edit.

  2. In the content area tool bar, choose Upload (Upload).

    The system opens the upload dialog box in a new window.

  3. Upload the content item. For more information about the upload dialog box, see Uploading Content.

  4. Choose Close.

    The system uploads the relevant content item in the corresponding page folder in the KM repository and assigns an iView for the KM resource under the Unassigned Content. This iView integrates the resource in the portal and can be later used inside the page.

    Note Note

    You cannot reuse the iView of a resource uploaded directly to a page. Once you add it to the page, the IView is no longer available under the Unassigned Content. Therefore, if you want to use a resource on a page more than once, you have to upload it to the respective page as many times as you want to use it.

Creating Web Content in a Page
  1. In the Content Editor, open the page content for editing.

  2. Drag and drop the respective Web content template to a container.

    You can drop more than one content templates to a container. Only certain types of Web content are allowed for each container.

    The system opens the relevant Web content editor in a new window.

    Note Note

    If you want to edit already created Web content item within a page, in the content template iView, choose Options (Options), and then choose Edit Content .

  3. After you have finished, save your entries and close the editor.

    The system stores the Web content in the corresponding KM folder of the page.

Displaying Web Content with Dynamic List on a Page
  1. In the Content Editor, open the page content for editing.

  2. From the Content Templates section, drag the Dynamic List onto the page.

  3. In the Dynamic List, choose Options and then choose Settings.

  4. The Properties editor opens in a separate window and you can specify the relevant values for the properties of the Dynamic List.

  5. Save your changes.
