Function documentationCard Return

This function enables you to return cards from existing card contracts.

This function is required if one of the following conditions is met:

  • A customer returns his or her card.

  • A third party has a card belonging to someone else (card is found, for example) and returns it.

Once the card is returned, it is labeled as Returned in the system. The data of the business partner who returned the card is stored in the system. In addition, the system automatically sets a system renewal lock.

A returned card can be locked, canceled, replaced, or duplicated.

Prerequisites

If a card is marked as Returned in the system, the following criteria must be met:

  • The card has the status Active, Locked, or Canceled.

  • The card is not labeled as Returned in the system.

  • The card has not been destroyed.

    Note Note

The PIN can be returned for a card that has been destroyed.

    End of the note.
  • The Return Card featureis permitted in the card contract directly or through the underlying product.

  • You have entered the return reasons in Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) under Start of the navigation path Contract Management Next navigation step Card Next navigation step Define Return, End of the navigation path and assigned return categories to them.

  • You have stored an output mode for the Return Card process in Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) by choosing Start of the navigation path Product Management Next navigation step Product Definition Next navigation step Card Products Next navigation step Create/Change Card Product End of the navigation path

    Note Note

For each account contract/master contract/card contract/card pool, there may only be one master data change that is subject to release in the release process at a given time. This means that the system locks the underlying contract for the transaction in question until a processor has released, returned, or rejected the first change in the release workflow. Only then can you make further changes.

Reason: While changes made to the account contract/card contract/card pool are being processed, the corresponding release object and various authorization objects control the program flow. For more information, see Authorization Administration in Account Management.

You can find the system settings and other information in Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) under:

    End of the note.
    • Release: Start of the navigation path Contract Management Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Release in the Contract End of the navigation path

    • Authorization: Start of the navigation path Basic Settings Next navigation step Authorizations End of the navigation path

      Note Note

The system generates a work item for the release process if the relevant Customizing settings have been made. For more information, see the Framework for the Principle of Dual Control (CA-GTF-TS-PDC) and SAP Business Workplace sections.

      End of the note.

Features

The Return Card transaction saves all relevant data for card return (for example, return reason, returning party, and so on) in the system.

You can set the value restriction for the return reasons for a card or PIN by product. The settings are restricted in the product itself.

Note Note

Note that you must enter a default value. Also, you can only restrict the values to those that you have stored in Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) by choosing Start of the navigation path Contract Management Next navigation step Card Next navigation step Define Card Return End of the navigation path . If you do not specify any restrictions in the product, all the values from the Customizing activity Define Card Return apply.

End of the note.

If you choose Show Valid On, the system displays the field on the initial screen.

If you have displayed this field, you must enter a date in it manually. Changes apply from the date entered here. All values from the contract start date onwards are permitted.

If the field is hidden, the system automatically enters the system date.

  4. The system automatically enters the data from the selected card in all other fields on the initial screen.

The system proposes today's date in the Card Valid On field, but you can overwrite this if necessary.

  5. Choose Continue.

The system displays the next screen with the different tab pages that are available. These tab pages contain business-related groupings of individual fields. Depending on the card product of the card you have selected, the system displays all or just some of the tab pages listed below.
