Function documentationService Loss Analysis for Substitute Products

If a customer-requested product was replaced at the first stockholding location by a one-to-one or a one-to-many substitution, service loss analysis does not only assign service loss reasons to the service loss quantity of the customer-requested product, but also to the service loss quantity of the substitute product(s).

Prerequisites

In Customizing for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM), you have defined the service loss reasons for which service loss analysis is to also check for service loss quantities of substitute products.

For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP SCM under Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Supply Chain Planning Next navigation step Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Monitoring Next navigation step Service Loss Analysis Next navigation step Define Categories and Reasons for Service Loss Analysis End of the navigation path.

Features

If the successor product planning date has been reached by the service loss reference date/time , service loss analysis can check whether one of the following service loss reasons applies to the service loss quantity of the substitute products:

Restrictions
  • Service loss analysis cannot assign service loss reasons to service loss quantities that occurred for substitute products at the second stockholding location or at stockholding locations further down the bill of distribution (BOD).

  • Service loss analysis cannot assign service loss reasons for service loss quantities of kit components or substitution of kit components.

Activities

Service loss analysis assigns service loss reasons to the service loss quantity of the customer-requested product first. Only then does it assign service loss reasons to service loss quantities of substitute products. If the successor product planning date has already been reached when the service loss reason Demand Exceeds Forecast is assigned, service loss analysis only assigns service loss reasons to service loss quantities of the substitute product(s).

When assigning service loss reasons to service loss quantities of substitute products, service loss analysis calculates the throughput time on a product-specific basis.

If quantity factors exist in the interchangeability master data between the customer-requested product (predecessor product) and the substitute products (successor products), the system converts the assigned service loss quantity of a successor product into the equivalent quantity of the customer-requested product.
