Purpose

One of the key tools that the Performance Assessment Workbench (PAW) offers is an author component integrated in the Knowledge Workbench. You use this tool to create and maintain tests, test items and performance units.

Process Flow

  1. You define individual test objectives and prerequisites, called performance units. For more information, see Creating a Performance Unit Info Object.
  2. You create the questions or tasks, called test items or simply items, that are associated with a performance unit. For more information, see Creating an Item Info Object.
  3. You create a performance unit container to establish a link between the performance unit and the test items.
  4. You assign the items to the performance unit container.
  5. You create the test and then add performance unit containers to the test. You can group related performance units into sub-tests.
  6. You can create multiple test forms, for example by varying the test items or their structure. For more information, see Creating a New Test Form.
  7. You define attributes for items, performance units, sub-tests, and tests. For more information, see Item Attributes, Sub-test Attributes, and Test Attributes.

You determine when and what type of feedback is to be given to test participants. You decide whether feedback is given for individual answers, test items, sub-tests, performance units, or simply for the whole test. You assign an info object containing the feedback to the test.

Note

When creating info objects, defaults can be set for the attributes. Select the menu items: Knowledge Workbench / Settings / Defaults ...
