Purpose

See Basic Data.

Prerequisites

You have created or imported the required phrases in phrase management in the SAP component Product Safety for all fields and characteristics that are provided for value assignment by Structure link phrases, and you have assigned these phrases to the phrase sets. For more information, see the Structure link Phrase Management section in the Product Safety documentation and Create Phrase Sets in Customizing for Waste Management.

Process Flow

  1. In phrase management in Product Safety, you edit the required waste catalogs (see Editing Waste Catalogs).
  2. In Structure link specification management in Product Safety, you edit the required waste codes and assign them to the waste catalogs (see Editing Waste Codes).
  3. In the SAP component Materials Management, you edit the materials that correspond to the wastes (see Editing Materials for Wastes).
  4. Recommendation

We recommend that you create your own materials for wastes, even if an existing material becomes a waste, due to a shortfall batch or its shelf life date expiring, for example (see Disposal Processing for Existing Materials).

  5. In specification management in Product Safety, you enter and edit the Structure link specifications of the wastes (see Editing Specifications for Wastes).
  6. Note

You can import phrases and specifications, and thus also waste catalogs, waste codes, and specifications of wastes, in Product Safety. This means that you can transfer data from legacy systems or obtain it from providers. For more information, see Structure link Import and Export in the Product Safety documentation.

  7. You assign waste codes and materials to the specifications of wastes as required. You can find out when to assign waste codes and materials to the specifications under Waste Code Assignment or Specification-to-Waste Assignment.
  8. If the wastes are dangerous goods, enter the required dangerous goods data in the SAP Structure link Dangerous Goods Management component. Dangerous goods processing for waste is carried out in the same way as for other materials. For information about the entries required, see the documentation for Dangerous Goods Management. For information about how to output the required dangerous goods data on the disposal documents, see Output of Dangerous Goods Data on Disposal Documents.

Result

The wastes, waste codes, and waste catalogs entered are available to you in the other SAP Waste Management components and make entry and further processing easier.
